I find the Marshallhead to be more to my liking. The humbucker that came in my Tyler was a bit dark for me and bit on the bassy side. The Marshallhead has very nice sweet top end that isnt harsh at all and cuts really well. Also not too much bass in this one. I find it to be really open sounding for a PAF. I highly recomend checking out Wolfe's PUPs. Very cool guy to work with too. I told him what I was putting it in, what wood my guitar had, that it was a strat style guitar, and what I didnt like about the old pick up and he custom wound what he thought would sound good using his Marshallhead design as a base and it really did make a very nice difference in what I was getting tonewise.

Wolfe is a freaking genius and as cool as they come.....

On deck covered Marshallhead set and Double Cream Dr. V's waiting for a new home....I have the MH's and the Dr. V's in two LP's - just insane. Will probably load the bridge Marshallhead into my GMW....

Get them with the raw nickle covers, they age quickly and look killer.

Can't say enough about Wolfe, he will rewind until you like them. I'm having him wind a Telecaster set for me too.

BTW - yours is the coolest Tyler I've ever seen

Wolfe makes great pickups. I've got Marshallheads, Caretakers, Dr.V's and a custom wound set, and none of them has disapointed.

I had to give up on the homeade pickup search. Tried too many, too much money and very little return if any.

I hear ya. I thought Id give these a try as the guy seems to really try and give you what you want. And given that it only scost me about $30 more dollars that the Rio Grands I was looking at I thought the extra scratch would be worth getting the presonalized tweaking of the pick up.

Wolfe is a great guy. I was introduced to him by a forum member and I got to hang out with him at NAMM . I haven't heard his pickups but I can't see them sucking! With that said, there is another killer Pickup builder who is going to launch his PU line soon and I will all over it!!!

There are many guys that will say the million dollar pickup is the greatest just becasue it costs a million bucks :D

+100!!! Now I think thats so true about alot of things. A perfect example IMHO is the CAE amps. Im sorry but the dirt side of that amp just is not that good but there are guys out there that think it sounds great. To each his own I guess but there has to be alot of justifying of what they paid in that instance IMHO. The Budda SD45 was much less than the OD I played and it sounds much better. Even used the Budda stuff is under half of what you pay for the CAE OD's used. With that said, I do think that you often get what you pay for but I dont think you should try and justify a bad sounding amp, pickup, or whatever because you paid alot for it.

Man thats cool you're digging them! Plankton has the tone of the Gods.

And on a slightly weirder note, I had a dream last night that I was kickin' it with the guitar player from Earl Greyhound. :D

yeah, just like them Bruno Tattaglia amps

Nope. Apples and organes. The Bruno's sound good and not like ass like the CAE. So no justification needed :D

I really can't comment, never heard either one. I am surprised that you would spend 2k on a clean amp being such a metal head that you are
