Been playing with these guys on keyboard for 2 years plus and we have only had 1 gig, which has frustrated me to no end. Anyway I show up for practice and they say they don't want a keyboard player, yet later say they had someone try out or jam the week I was on a work trip a few months ago. They gave me no notice that I wasn't doing a good job and so I feel pretty blindsided.

In the end it will be better to be out since I was really frustrated at the lack of gigs, but I sure don't like it coming from nowhere. So if you are not liking what a guy is doing or want someone else, than at least let him know he needs to improve.

I do have a couple of more options, on is on guitar and the other is on bass but I have a line on a bass player so that could be on guitar too :D

Dude that is so like most musicians I have played with.
Being in a band is ruthless.
It seems there is no loyalty.

If they were not giging then your not missing much.

that band sucked anyways.. you can do much better

they need to get the best musicians they can, so they can sit in the garage and :jerkit:

one gig in two years?
you have to be kidding!
find a few serious guys, pick out 40 or so tunes, and set a timeline of 3 months to go out and get yourself at least one or two gigs a month from that point out.
fuck those guys, bunch of basement warriors

I got kicked out of a band or year or two ago, it had nothing to do with my playing or dependability. It was because I would tell it like it is and point out problems with things and it bruised the member's egos. It was actually funny because I had packed up my stuff and all but quit and they got it in before I had called to make it official.

If you let people in the band know how frustrated you were about the lack of progress, I wouldn't doubt if that was the reason. Most bands exist for the sole purpose of people wanting attention and praise.

Bands suck.

I was in one for 5 years and we were gigging at least twice a month. They kicked me out via email when I became a father because they didn't think I'd have time to be a contributing member anymore.

They broke up 2 months and one gig later

I was in a 80's metal cover band (shocking!)....the other guitarist was a Lynch clone (more than I am), yet he would pick the lamest Dokken tunes....he was also a total douche. The setlist was horrible...songs that would flop at a bar. They eventually booted me (via email....gutless turds), as the other guitarist wanted full reign. They never got out of the basement...no gigs.

+1 BIG TIME.

I can't stand "bands" that take forever to make decisions and lack the drive to progress. You're better off.

I think that was the biggest issue. I have been pushing hard and working to find gigs for a long time now. Every practice I would ask what people were doing to get gigs lined up. They claimed they wanted to play gigs too, but obviously not. The other thing is I didn't stay for a 2nd dinner at 9:30PM. Meatloaf at 9:30 when I had already had dinner at home at 5:30 is just not what I wanted. Meatloaf is a great before bed food and having 2 meals is a great way to stay thin :D

Got a first practice for another group tonight, we have a few missing pieces, but hopefully it will work out better. I played with the one guy in college, he worked for a while at Ford, than transfered to my company, seems like a small world....
