Not sure how to dial this at all...looking for singing, smooth lead....what I got right now just sounds a bit too harsh/Fenderish.

Anyone gain it up with different pre-amp tubes?

LOL!I thought thats what you'd be saying.....  The COD is a different animal,I'm using EH tubes in mine and I run it threw the M4/RT250
Boosts off
gain:2
Master:9:30/10
Bass:12
Mid:10
Treb:10
and just opposite in channel A with the gain and master
Kinda have to tune this module with the ears,love/hate thing to

Harsh? Is there somthing wrong with it?

Looking at mine right now I have it set:

Both gains: 11:00
Bass: 12
Mid: 2
Treble: 2

Bright switch on 0, occasionally I set it to 1.

Maybe harsh is an over-simplification....I was just expecting it to be smoother....out with the Sovteks...they're never smooth...

I got the gain where I need it to be with a TungSol ECC803s and a chinese tube...but it was a little thin like that....put a long plate something or other in v1 and the tung-sol in v2 and it's a bit closer to what I was expecting.

I think this might actually be one Eggie module I'll be using a boost with...

Gotcha. Im using the Tung Sol reissues in mine. Nice smooth lead tone with zero top end fizzies which is great.

Hey are you the JKD from HCAF?

Is this the general consensus about the Sovteks? I've never heard anything good about them from people in this forum. Maybe Bruce should start shipping them with something else?

they work for some people and/or in some modules but not others....very non-descript, reliable tube....if that's what you look for.

I like 'em in cleaner modules....and they're pretty good in the Vx...I like to piss around with tubes though to see what I can do...I never say one is best and stick with it for everything.

I definitely missed it....nr Sacramento :D

The Sovteks are very reliable and a very neutral sounding tube. I presume thats why they are used in the MOD 50.

You need to give the COD a lot of treble and back off the bass, from what I recall. I definitely had to concentrate to dial it in with my ears not my eyes. That said, it is definitely the hardest Eggie module to dial in. Basically, its like a boogie. :D

I started with everything at 12 and started dialing....here's where I ended up...Ch A is kind of OK for Rhythm but I dialed it for the flutey sounding lead on CH B

I think your #s were pretty spot on....sounds sweet with the BB Xotic Preamp or HBE Power Screamer out front for lead playing (ish)

I keep messing with the Bass though..sometimes too much, sometmes not enough :D
