Wow. absolutely inspiring. It kinda does sound like my IE4 in a way.

The darkness and abundance of character reminds me of a sad, visual, soundscape.

Unbelievable. I would say I like the EG 3/4 more than the SL2, thus far.

If I had a Mod 100, it would DEFINITELY be VX, EG3/4, EG5. in that order.

yeah since i got mine i hardly use the sl2. i find it can do some great pink floyd lead tones with out any pedals.

Ah man, now I'm confused AGAIN... I'm still trying to decide on what 2 modules I want in my mod50. I thought I was settled on BMAN and SL2, but this whole EG3/4 business is making me think otherwise.

I know the EG3/4 is great for solos, cuz it's smooth, but is it defined enough for rhythm work? Can the EG3/4 get rough at all? Does it have any bite at all?

NOTE: The only real clips I've heard of the EG3/4 are the indoorstorm ones, and while the playing is great, that guitar sounds WAY too smooth, and it sounds like he has the tone knob rolled back to get that Santana-ish lead pickup sound (which is NOT for me...)

FWIW, the SL2 isn't very rough or nasty at all compared to other amps.

I'm not sure what the answer is. Maybe VX, chB with the gain cranked??

muudrock posted some excelent clips of the EG 3/4 dual channel and EG3 single channel modules in the Egnater Clip Collective thread.

Here is one I did a year ago with the 3/4 A and Bman B on rythym and 3/4 B lead.

Ah, I forgot about those clips. AWESOME!!!!

thanks Marco.

I'm heavily leaning towards the EG3/4 now...

..bangs head on desk..

Just when I convinced myself that I should stick with the SL2.

How well do the SL2 and EG3/4 clean up? Can you get a usable enough clean tone where you could get both and forget the T/D?

ARGHHH!

I don't think either clean up real well. When I first got my MOD50 I only had the SL2 and Erect and I used the A channel of the SL2 for clean and it wasn't great but it worked. I was real happy when I got my Bman. IMHO if you spend half your time soloing in your band, I'd say 3/4. if your a 2 guitar band and play most all heavy rythym, then SL2 or EG5.

I was on an SL2 kick a few weeks ago and was really digging it but I keep comming back to the 3/4.

That sounds great dude.

Thanks Bro!

I'll muddy the waters and say that the SL module is fast becoming my favorite. I have been living on that module for both cleans and dirty sounds. Channel A set Clean, Channel B set to dirty and good OD pedal like BB, Sparkle drive or Tube Driver and you have 6 available sounds. To my ears it has a more "organic" sound when compared to the SL2. Just what I hear.

I still love the EG3/4 because no matter what, it just sounds good in any situation with just about any guitar. That module has a very complex midrange to it that I just don't hear in any other module or amp. Will it clean up like a Twin, no but if you know how to ride your guitar's volume knob, you can clean it up just fine.

i agree i have been favoring my SL and EG3/4 together. the SL ch. A clean JTM ish and ch. B dirty/blues , EG3/4 ch A dirty ch.B GROWLING leads :2thumbsup:

Life is good with my SL-EG3/4 combo. Cant wait for the VX to get here.

But look at how Indoor storm has it EQed!!!! Dark and smooth! You can brighten it up! I thikn the SL2 sounds bigger and is more versatile, fatter.

"the SL ch. A clean JTM ish and ch. B dirty/blues , EG3/4 ch A dirty ch.B GROWLING leads"

Good stuff, that would be great if I could use the SL channel A for some decent clean.
- the Bassman channel A clean is WAY too quiet!

Both are fatter than the EG5 which to me sounds thin and shrieky...like a soldano. :boxer:

Good call, Rich. Yeah, I'm definitely not knockin' IndoorStorm, or the dude playing, but the EQ of those modules is kinda whack.

I think a much better way to do test clips is have everything as close to noon as possible. That way, people listening can really have an idea of what it would sound like if they added bass, treble, etc.

Seeing the knobs at 9, 10, and 11... I'm kinda lost, trying to translate that to how I usually set my stuff.

All I can say is that November is little more than a day away and hopefully this month will see me getting my M4 finally. Then I'll be able to chime in on these threads.

I'm in the same boat. Just chomp'n at the bit waiting for the MOD50 to be done so I can an opinion of some worth. Well, my opinions may not be worth much still, regardless of what gear I have..... :(
