Just wondering what feedback I'd get (if any) on my music. Checkout the first song, "Bare Knuckle Pickups".

Yes, it's myspace, so there is probably a poo mid boost/dip somewhere between 3-6 kHz but . . . nonetheless.

Thanks!!

I haven't clicked on your page yet, but I really have a hard time making critical suggestions off of myspace. Their player sounds like butt.

try posting something on soundclick, then I think it would be more relavant to offer sound critiques

Lose the Bugera...

Seriously--would help to have more info on what was used to make this clip besides just the pickups.

Cheers,

Gtr into ns2 with an od808 in the loop, then into an ENGL Savage through a Mesa 4x12 Stiletto (all evidence cables). Mic'ed with a transformless 57 and an sm7b into Focusrite isa preamps. DAW is ProTools. I have no Bugera to loose, but thank you anyway? It's awesome to be an equipment elitist, but I was just wondering about the mix of the audio. You know? Levels, eq, comp, stereo image.

Yeah man, i dig it! Guitar sounds awesome to me, Mix seems just right to me. Don't have any valid critisism.

real drums or programmed?

Unfortunately . . . they are programmed. But, I did record the samples :scared: , hahah. I figure they would be replaced anyway, and quantizing transients is just too monotonous for me.

drums sound good to me, just wondering if they were like superior 2 or what you know.

I used a mix of drumagog and ezdrummer to do the midi programming and whatnot.

Guitars need more bite. Snare needs to come up a tad. Needs bass. Needs more parts. Otherwise good job, big Savage fan!

Thanks! :) Yeah most definitely more parts, I'm not really sure if it's going to be developed into a song, or just another random mix test haha. By bass do you mean the instrument (there's some mic'ed svt in there)? Or like bass of the overall mix sound? I just started mixing on new monitors and I don't think I've gotten the gist of how they throw bass frequencies yet.

Bass the instrument, but your drum sounds are a bit clicky and could use a little body as well. Everything else is drowned out by the guitar.

It actually has a bass already, and it sounds pretty good to me, could use a tad more body to stand out, but its definetally there. perhaps adding some distortion to the bass might bring it out a bit.

That's an awesome idea, I never even thought of that, thanks. I was thinking I'll probably mix in a DI too, that plus the distortion idea can't go wrong.

I agree, snare needs to come up. The guitar sounds good but you might lose some when a bass is in the mix. I'd also pan a light harder to the right and left on the guitars and add a little mid hump eq to the left. Sounds really good though, nice job!!!
