Yeah it's the shit! It has such a low mid girth and crunch that just blew me away in the car today. She's a keeper, what an amazing amp. Great for glueing the bass to the guitar tracks. A lot of times with Marshall there's a gap between the guitar and the bass, sometimes it's great and you want the gap ala ACDC but at other times you want the rhythm section to move like a wall and you want the bass to be sonically glued to the rhythm guitars creating less definition and more of a wall ala a lot of modern rock and the VH4 did what I wanted it to do. Love it, I'm so happy. I'll post come tracks as the records are releasing. Can't post anything now.

You're totally right. I sure do love mine though I haven't achieved too great sounds for my recordings... But that's because of my crappy skills as a player and dunno how to do those recordings the right way. The sound from the amp itself is amazing and someday I'll be able to capture it somehow. :)

Nice to hear this! I love my VH4, too   Tell me when there´s something I can listen to! btw the trak "around in world in 30 days" is such a cool song!

yeah, I much prefer the VH4 over the Herbert also.

So you own(ed) both?

Is this question for James or me?

If its directed to me, yes, I owned both amps, had them both at the same time, and kept the VH4. In a band setting, the VH4 was just so much more present than the Herbert.

For you, cos James never said anything about the Herbert in this thread.

Different strokes....

I've had both. I sold the Herbert when I got the VH4. To me the Herbert is best suited for really heavy music and I just don't make those kind of records much anymore. The VH4 is more useful for the styles I'm doing now. I also find the VH4 a very easy amp to record, plug it in, throw a couple of mics up and she sounds great. The Herbert is a more complex amp sonically and took me a while to get the hang of recording. Both are great, I had my Herbert for a few years and it was time for a change. We've been recording with the VH4 literally everyday, unbelievable amp.
