Ok, just bought EL34 SEDs and Tung Sol 12AX7 New Production (also a JJ 12AT7).
When I bias the Diezel, do I set the mA to around 35 (I thought I read that somewhere)? And which fuse do I take out - please refer specifically to the board...
Regarding pre-amp tubes. I want to have great high gain sound and great clean/bluesy sound at same time. Does anyone have recommendation for the Einstein preamp tubes? As it stands, I have 6 of the Tung Sol New Production 12AX7s coming. But should I use a mixture?
Man thinking about tube combinations and choices is driving me nuts. Like choosing guitars, cabinets, mics, mic preamps, etc isn't a tough enough choice when it comes to getting good tone (and for me recorded tone is more important than live tone)...
Anyway, always looking for advice. BTW - I have to admit the best recorded tone I have ever had was with Koch Powertone II (just slightly) but I am deasd set on making the Einstein on par. No worries Peter. I know once I get the Einstein back in proper order that it will be my go to amp!
