Just picked up my first Bogner and...

...this Ecstasy 101B is a complete animal. I've never heard so many RIDICULOUSLY OFF BASE descriptions of an amplifier in my entire life

The clean channel sparkles up there with the best clean amps I've heard.

The blue channel has a great overdrive and sweet details.

The red channel... who out there calls this thing flubby? In loose dampening mode, it CAN get out of control, but that depends on how you dial it in. I can do metal on the red channel without a boost on, raunchy punk rock, slamming hard rock, and I just did some reamps for the band 26 feat. Andy Kodiwein and Marco Minnemann and it did brown, crispy, and all around goodness...

Bogner's definitely one of my fave tone amps in the world. Period.

If you ever get a chance to test drive a 20thX with KT77's, don't. You sound perfectly happy with your 101B

I didn't get a 20th because its more in the Marshall vein I hear. This Bogner is outstanding all around and I couldn't want anything more from it than it's giving me.

I'm missing my 101b. The 20th is definitely a better amp for me, but there were some sounds in the 101b that the 20th just doesn't have.

I found many of the internet descriptions of the 101B not all that far off when I finally had a chance to own one and hear for myself.

Some of the stereotypes were perhaps embellished/exaggerated a bit though imo.

Bogner is my current favorite amp maker, but I have yet to try Cornford or Diezel.

I have an EL34 20th Anniversary Shiva and it does the Marshal thing pretty good but does the thick Bogner thing great!

i had an argument with some dude that said the 101b couldnt do metal ... he was fucking crazy

when i played that amp it had massive gain with HUGE low end, melted alot of faces that day ... the blue channel actualy gets very metal itself

Yeah man I have a 2nd Rev Uberschall and a Fish; couldn't be happier. Great amps, and I'll never get rid of either of them.

Yep, I'm having a really hard time trying to decide which amp I'm going to keep (XTC Classic vs. 20thA EL34). Both are so damn amazing!

Sweet. I love the 101b red channel. I don't care what anybody says.
Had a classic liked the 101b much better. No urge for the 20th

Any of you try the KT77s in your 101bs?? I've been gigging regularly for over 10 years with my 101b and think I'm up for a change. Steve K suggested trying the KT77s, as he says it really changes the amp (in a good way).

Try PMing Billm408 ...he tried the kt77's in his 101b a year or two ago.

What type of tonal difference are you looking for with power tubes? Are you a heavier player? Do you like your amp loud? Do you palm mute or chug?

It gets as or a little more Metal than the Ecstacy red channel.
