This amp is pretty awesome. I passed on these for a long time because they always sounded like a can of bees to me. The new version has some really cool features and sounds pretty damn good too.

Damn sharp looking as well! HNAD!

Did they upgrade the speakers in these from the 70/80... maybe I dreamed that.

They changed to the V-type speaker

I love my 40C, but it's all black and I really want it to look like the OP's. Spray paint?

HNAD classy AF. Throw an Tung-Sol in V1 and some JJ's in and you will like it better.

I played one week ago and with gain halfway on Lead 1 channel it started choking and sound was very muffled, almost unusable. But clean and crunch were signicficantly better than old version.

I wonder how the high gains sounds are...I know before they were kind of fizzy sounding on the high end.

the gain was unusable in the previous models, once you took it above about 9:00... i wonder if Marshall Incorporated the "home-mods" that guys were doing.

I have a DSL100HR and they did take the fizz out. Several reviewers mention this in their play through vids. I remember hearing Chappers say something "they took the crisp packet out" or something like that in the Andertons vid.

I think that the amp is pretty good. Some like the original version better but for me, this version takes it. I still haven't messed with replacing too many tubes yet though. Recently put a Sovtek LP in the PI and a ARS in V2.

Yep the speaker is a Celestion V type. It's OK. I put a Creamback in it and I prefer that, maybe because it's already broken in. It's got a lot of low end, almost to much. Kind of gets wooly in the lows when you crank up the gain. I plugged it into an oversize Mesa 1x12 and it sounds much better, like most combos do.But for a mass production amp that's 750 new it ain't bad.Especially considering it has dual reverb, midi, dual masters and switchable fx loop.

I agree that is a helluva feature set for the money. Hard to go wrong there. I would like to see a gut shot if anyone has one.
