hey guys,

i just bought a 2001 uber and would like some help identifying this amp.

the seller stated it as a 'rev green' and it doesn't have the leather handle. therefore, i think it's likely one of the first series ubers prior the first revision was made (rev 2), according to what i've gathered so far.

although i've found some thread on here with good information regarding the uber revisions, these seem to focus on the rev green's vs blue and TJ.

does anybody know what tonal differences there are between the 'original' uber and rev 2?
so far, i've only found that the gain taper was improved for ch2 and the channel volume adjusted to be more even.

anyway, i'm really looking forward to this amp!

AFAIK, the only differences between the original Uberschall and the Rev 2 are the ones you mentioned. Congrats on the score!

thanks for the info!

can't wait for the amp to arrive. i've been waiting for a rev 'green' uber to show up in the used market over here for almost a year now.

You'll love it, my Rev2 is my "go to" amp.

Congrats! I'm biased, but i think you just scored one of the meanest amps around. I've been digging the heck out of my rev 2 since '04. AFAIK the only changes to rev 2 were a gain pot (more gradual) and leather handle. Enjoy!

I had an older Uberschall with the jewel light that I bought used in about 2002, it had an unbelievable kick in the chest kinda gain. Like a dumbass I sold it for something else. It had the leather handle though, was one of the best Uber's I've ever had. Congratulations on your new Bogner.

hi guys,

i have the amp for a almost two weeks now and it's quite amazing! man, this thing has more bottom than a rectifier. definitely diezel herbert territory :-D

all in all, the amp sounds very saturated and with the gain at 10 o'clock it's already A LOT of gain. i like to think of the distortion as a tighter marshalized recto. it definitely has that 'raw mids' thing going, but the uber stays WAY tighter while retaining a lot more bass. with a tubescreamer set as a clean boost (drive 0; level 5) the tone is perfect for me.

unbalanbed channel volumes aside (OD at 3 corresponds to the CLEAN maxed out), the amp is pretty much what i was hoping for. raw, big mids and tons of gain and clarity. the clean channel is not bad also. i couldn't get a lot of usable sounds for it, but with all dials set at around 2 o'clock and the treble slightly higher it gets nice and sparkly without sounding sterile.

sadly, i will have to part with this amp (along quite a few others) since i'm moving to a new house with the wife and kids and we'll be needing to invest in new furniture, etc... :(

Willing of selling your rev2?

Please quit soliciting the sale of others' amps. You can put an ad in the classifieds section; that's a more appropriate forum for this sort of thing.

The 3rd thing is that the plate voltage is set higher which kills the tubes life a tad faster. I called Bogner just 2 days ago with this same question about the diff between the two. They are very helpful!

Interesting... I've never heard that before. IIRC the plate voltage for the Rev 2 was around 495. I wonder what the PV for the original was... maybe 525 like the Twin Jet?

My Rev 2 has 510-515v depending on bias.

The Blue dropped below 500v by design.

The gain taper and leather handles are the changes from original release to Rev 2. Some of the originals got the leather handle too.
