Well, I was looking for a good quality low capacitance cable to go from my pedalboard to my amp. I've been using the same cheap cable for like 8 years. Now I have a Mogami Gold 2524 18 footer going from guitar to board and I've demo'd it against my Monster Rock, Planet Waves Custom Pro, and Pro-Co. The Mogami won with fullness and preserved highs better.

So now I ordered a Evidence Audio Melody 10' and paid $80! Why, well I was resorted back to one of my Guitar Player mags in 2008 that did a massive cable roundup with every cable imaginable. The Evidence Audio Melody came out as one of the top 5 out of like 30 decent cables and wasn't $130. I've thought about building my own cables, and would have years back if I knew what I know now, but only needed one.

Anyway, hope this Evidence Audio Melody cable was worth it, and if there is any users out there I'd like to hear from them. You know I have spent BIG money on a new 13' Les Paul 59' Reissue (one of best guitars ever played) and a brand new Friedman BE-100 (best amp I've ever played) so $80 for a cable seems logical doesn't it? And it should sound superior.

A/B it to the Mogami. I'm curious to see if you can hear any difference.

Lyric user here too. Great for tracking. Not good for live.

What makes it not good for live use? What do.you use for stagework?

I have one as well. Great cable. I use it live but as Reza pointed out, it isn't the best due to it being a stiffer cable and doesn't always move where you want it to.

I think he means because the Melody and Lyric cables are pretty stiff. The Melody isn't quite as stiff as the Lyric, and should get a little bit more flexible over time. My Lyric cables are still very stiff.

I use both Melody and Lyric, and they're just fantastic cables. And I believe I've been certified insane, because I decided to rewire my entire rack using Melody cabling with Neutrik plugs.

If you buy more Evidence Audio cabling, I'd suggest buying it in bulk and make your own cables.

Enjoy!

I spent around $60 on a spectraflex cable around 15 years ago and it's still working perfectly to this day.

So I'd say it's money well spent since I've had cheaper cables get staticky or break before. Although I'm not sure how spectraflex stacks up to evidence audio cables.

You know whats funny... Is you guys actually understand more than the dudes on TGP. They are like "what and why would you spend that much". U got ripped off". Mogami Gold cheaper and better". Lol

Wow.. And I spent what .. $30 more than most thier "just as good" cables. TGP is like a playground sometimes.

Waste of money. I drank the koolaid once and never again. The difference is so small and nothing a half turn of an eq knob on your amp wont replicate. Super cheap cables can be junk but there is very little if any difference between a $40 and a $140 cable.

The ONLY thing that matters in cable is capacitance. The spendy cable rarely has as good as you would hope.

Ever since I came across these guys (link below), I've been using them whenever I can. Good prices, awesome cables, and can do any custom work you really want.

I have been using Planet Waves for years with no problems. They are priced nice, low capacitance, and lifetime warranty. I really like their American Stage series cables.

My favorite cable is Vovox Sonorus. They are super light and the most flexible. Mogami is good and I use those also. There Platinum cable is not cheap as well. It's more than just capacitance. There are definite sound differences in cables. I'm not interested in refreshing myself on why there are differences but I know there are. The Lyric is but it is very stiff and will sometimes cause noise when it's stepped on. Tony is super helpful. I have had several cables fail and I think it has to do with how flexible they are as a stiffer cable is more prone to issues because of the bending. Lot's of good ones out there. I like Cornish, Allesandro instrument two is decent. The Evidence Audio sounds good if you can work with the stiffness. Some are priced insane. Would never try any of those. They make power cords that cost 2K which is nuts. There is a point of diminishing returns with most things.

They're local to me and have shopped there in the past. They're a great company to deal with.

I normally buy Mogami cable and Neutrik ends and make the cables for half the price.

I played Evidence for years...great cables and Tony is the best! Recently though Dave Friedman made me a Belden 8412 instrument cable(same as Pete Cornish uses) and I'm actually diggin it big time right now!

Belden 8421 has been an underground secret for many years, and no wonder, at 17 pf/ft it should be a very clear cable with fast attack compared to the lyric hg and others at the high end 39 pf/ft of the capacitance zone.

Of course, if you are using a buffer then capacitance is of no real concern after the buffer, or if using active pickups.
I plug straight in so using the 8421 and similar cables appeals to me and my set up.

Everything was great about that cable, other than the tweed wrap.
I couldn't get that freekin thing to lay flat or be able to store it without
looking like a tard storing a garden hose.

Unless of course,I was doing it wrong

Specs I see listed for 8412 spec it at 30 pf/ft.

I transposed the numbers! I meant 8421 not 8412....here is the data sheet link for the 8421:

http://www.belden.com/techdatas/metric/ ... f?ip=false

The 8412 data sheet is showing 36 pf/ft which would put it in the hg area
