So this is a recent show. Not a bad effort altogether. It looked like Thayil is using Mesas, maybe RA-100 or Electradyne. His rhythm tone was killer. Clear and crunchy. His lead tones were almost too clean, and I mean they were not smooth enough for what I remember them to be when they used old Peaveys. Cornell sounded fine, though sometimes I feel like he coasts, not so much this show. Rhythm section was dead on.

In short, pretty good reunion show, worth the watch.

i've seen the show you're talking about and felt the same way you do. It sounds good, but they just don't have the energy they did back in the early 90s pre-badmotorfinger. This largely made me not want to go see them as all thats left in my opinion is the nostalgia. I was really looking forward to the new album, but was left disappointed (seem to be in the minority). Im very happy for the band (they got back together, seem to have an album that a lot of people like, and are touring with several sold-out shows) but just can't get into this reunion unlike the Faith No More reunion which just kicked all sorts of ass (wish they'd put out a new album)

Yup, Electrodynes with Mesa Trad. cabs.

I thought he used Electra Dynes along with Tremoverb's.

I just bought the new album and was largely disappointed. There is some Audioslave watered down lyrical content on King Animal that sort of put me off a bit. I'm a big Superunknown fan and I guess I was expecting those huge hooks on every tune. All of that said, Bones Of Birds is a big standout for me (and most indicative of Superunknown era material). Easily my favorite from this album.

i saw that footage as well, the rhythm section killed it, yet thayil and cornell sound terrible. i was lucky enough to catch these guys live in the late 80s, all of that energy is long gone. just a bunch of old guys looking for a paycheck now.
