Just got a minty fresh Marshall JVM 215C delivered to my house. Cute little 1x12 50 watt 2-channel combo that is quite impressive. I had played the 4 channel head at a store a few times and it kept growing on me. Fun amps. I've had lots of NMV Marshalls. Recently I was running a 1959HW cranked and boosted with an Ultimate Attenuator and that was a sweet rig for the hot-rodded plexi tones I like most. But I tell ya, the OD channel in yellow mode is very similar in tone and feel. It's tight, crisp, harmonics leap from the fretboard, it's raunchy and ballsy. It is unmistakably a Marshall. Marshall really got this one right. All the other modes are great, too. And with the tight abundant bass and resonance knob, I think you could easily make the sound coming off the speaker, recorded by a close-miced SM57, sound like it was coming from a much bigger vintage rig. I can't make clips right now cuz I sold my mic  . Also, the Vintage Modern did nothing for me. I played a combo at the store and found it didn't have enough gain for hot-rod sounds and the bottom was tubby. Just wanted to share. :)

When these amps first came out i liked the JVM and hated the VM. Now, i like the VM better than the JVM. The VM with some volume and a boost pedal sounds better than anything i have heard from a JVM IMHO. I like the 3rd channel Orange mode on the JVM. The other red modes i didn't care for, not tight enough.

I like 'em, but I thought the one area where they were lacking the most was the cranked plexi tone and feel. When I had it, I used the clean and the orange or green of third channel most of the time. I thought the 2nd channel was kinda weak.

I wonder how much different the 2 channel version is than the 4 channel?

I still love the JVM. I think its a great amp that does a lot. I also like the VM with a boost.
With that said, Its a good time for guitar player being that there are so many amps to choose from now!

I loved the one I heard at NAMM. The one I played locally sounded horrible!! I couldn't believe it. I walked in with cash to take the thing home but played it first. Im not sure what teh problem was but it did not sound good at all. Bummed me out, I was really looking forward to owning one. I have a feeling there may have been some inconsistencies in production with the first run of these amps.

mine has been in my rig now a year, and its the amp I take on pick up gigs, no matter what the style is.
imo, best all around amp they made (with the exception of my beloved 73 superbass :inlove: :inlove: :worship: \:D/ )

Yeah the JVM is sweet. I hate the Vintage Modern. its the most disappointing new Marshall Ive ever played. And although Zepman's did sound pretty good, but I thought his DSL, and especially the JMP sounded so much more ballsier and thicker. And there is something weird about the low end response. That said if my amp broke down and someone had a Vintage Modern I could use, Id make that sumbitch work.
