I picked up an Egnater tweaker 40 along with a tourmaster 212X cab just before the new year after playing through one at GC. Problem was mine shit the bed about a week later. A replacement quickly arrived which sounds good and has thus far been pumping out some decent tones. Problem I'm having is no reverb on this head, and not completely satisfied with the gain and crunch. I know a pedal can easily remedy this issue but I'm not one for pedals. Guitar and Amp, maybe a wah. My main rig is a Carvin MTS 100 Watt head through a 4X12 can loaded with celestion greenbacks with usually an old Les Paul standard. I've been very happy with it since 1996 and it has been a reliable road warrior for 15+ years. Recently I've been playing smaller gigs (more blues/jazz then metal and punk) and getting older so lugging around a half stack is getting old.
The Egnater cab sounds great, I've plugged a few heads into and like what it puts out, it is a keeper despite it's 87lb weight which is close to my 4X12.
Just not sure about the head. I have another week to decide or swap it through AMS. Giving some serious thought to the Renegade 65. The variable output, independent channel eq, Reverb would definitely make me happier, though the ability to swap from a Voxish tone, to a fendery tone, would make life easier in the studio.
Kinda torn. Any thoughts?
