Ok I know this subject has been an ongoing discussion but here is my story and im sticking to it.
when i got my Einsein used from guitar center it was loaded with what i assume were stock tubes, all ruby 12ax7 in pre and ruby EL-34 power. after reading many posts on this forum i got the guts to order some new pre tubes jj 12ax7 v1 and v2 and Penta labs version of the 9th gen chinese 12ax7 for the rest.
I also worked up the ballsack to bias my head myself, Awsome feature by the way
when i did the bias it was reading at 59ma for the pair. ive read all over this forum as well as the Diezel website that the recomended bias for EL-34s was 65ma.
ok so i raised my bias to the 65ma and changed pretubes. cool right

but now i feel like the amp has a bit too much HAIR on the sound if you can relate.
its a little fizzy sounding to my ears
ive lowered the gain played with my eq settings. still too much HAIR

Just wondering if maybe the bias did it or the new pre tubes  Im looking for some input from people that have experimented a bit.
im tempted to put my old tubes back in and lower my bias back to 59ma.
help me with some ideas.
i know its a matter of taste but i like to hear from all the Diesel people from all over the globe.

Diezels Fucking rule by the way

If there is nothing wrong with the original preamp tubes, put them back in an see where you are
with the old tone.

Flip them: use the pentas in V1 and V2 and the JJs in the other sockets.

Thanks i was actually thinking about doing just that. whats your take on the bias issue do you think that the small variance could make a big difference :D

I liked to run the bias a bit on the cold side, for exactly the reason you stated. Try it, takes 30 seconds

me too. it sounds more 'snappy' and somewhat 'tighter' to my ears. i learned that after i tried to bias my herbert.

Stock TAD EL34's and SED EL34's tubes works well in my Eini too with bit colder bias settings 55...60mA. But you can easily try various settings with your 50W. Start from 50mA to 70mA, raise 5mA each time. Pretty sure that 60mA is the best!? I tried lots of different preamp tubes and honestly 80% of my tests have only made the tone worst. But not always

Put the bias back to 60mA and change preamp tubes one by one. Try different tubes in V1 and V2 also put a good tube in Phase inverter. That is important position too!

Now my machine is filled with 12ax7 TADs and Harma tubes.
