I gotta be honest I think the music sucks. I’ve tried listening to the new album and it’s like a local band got a big break but not in a good way.

I’ve come to actually hate Tim Owens voice.

Tim has excellent range and has done some good stuff but when he covers the more subtle Halford material (Desert Plains, Beyond the Realms of Death, etc) he’s always sucked. Zero subtlety and nuance. I hate it when he goes into a grunge type voice when Halford originally did it clean.

Agreed. He definitely has a hell of a range. It just feels like he overdoes everything and not in the good way.

I can never figure out if he is doing himself or if he is flipping into his alter Halford voice. The line is blurry. I get the Halford sound on anything JP but on his own stuff I don't always want to hear it. I really didn't like him with Malmsteen. What an odd pairing that was. Good on KK for bringing it even if the songs are lackluster in spots. I don't think it is any worse than anything else I have heard but it is def. more old school metal and nothing special pops out at me.

Why in the heck is KK not in Priest?? There are 2 original members now and one is the bass player who plays 8th notes all night o_O
I read KK's book and he said Tipton put his solos down and was a jerk for years before he left. Sounded like he was hard up for cash too

Tough crowd LOL. I enjoyed Tim in a small venue when I saw him five years or so back.

:p So true about those basslines.. talk about a gig you barely need to prep for. I think it is no secret that Tipton was the better lead player but KK was bringing the goods on Ram it Down and Painkiller and they played off each other well I thought.

The new material so wants to tap into modern metal which I cannot stand
I loved Priest in the 'Unleashed in the East' era

Diamonds and rust Victims of changes ect :m17:

Songs that have dynamics both in riffs and vocals allow for melody and hooks which grab the listeners ear and are both memorable and you might actually want to listen to them again and again over the years!

40 + years after first hearing it, that song still gives me goosebumps.

Yeah JP is doing the more “modern” thing much better.

KK’s Priest just does not have good songs. If it wasn’t KK, people would tear the new album apart. The lyrics are also just abysmal. Bummer as I really like KK.

I mean at the end of the day, they’ll give not a fat fucking fart that I don’t like the material! lol!

Not only did they squeeze out one of the best Heavy Metal songs of all time they did it again a short while later with Beyond the Realms of Death.

I always thought Ian Hill had the easiest job in metal I'd ever seen or heard.

Back in the day I saw Priest and Maiden several times, they toured together a few times.

Ian Hill vs Steve Harris?
