may get to play one these, but most likely won't get to crank it or run it through a decent amp.

how will this sound compared to a solid body?

don't know what it has for backing wood, but it has maple neck and i guess a rosewood board?

asking in case i like it, and would like to have an idea if i should hold for something spec'd out more like what i think i'd want? which i guess would be quilt on alder or hard ash with maple neck and board?

I played one. I think it was Basswood body with the Koa top. I loved everything about it, but it's tone didn't win me over. Hollow or chambered guitars have a certain sound to me that isn't what i like for rock or metal tones. For big open chords, mid gain, blues, etc is what i feel hollow or chambered guitars sound best at.

Interesting that Anderson only uses Koa as a top wood and not for a body. If you ask Tom on the Anderson boards he'll tell you why, and he reason is the same why i dumped a Suhr Koa standard that i owned.

I think the opposite to Dan. I think very few guitars SING like a chambered guitar. I have a Hollow Drop Top that I spec'ed and am in the process of buying a Hollow Cobra S. My Guild Bluesbird AAA is chambered as well as was the Gibson Les Paul Supreme I sold last year.

How do you like the Guild? I have always wanted one of them.

Superb guitar. Comparable to whatever's out there in tone and better than non historic Gibsons in build quality. Best LP alternative on the market in terms of value for tone. What do they run for these days $1K or so? They are a steal.

I think some of the chambered Anderson's sound ok. But remember that limited edition Suhr that SteveVHT had? That thing sounded dead. I feel that a lot of hollow guitars have a certain open feeling to the tone which doesn't translate to a tight feel. Oh well, you gotta play before you pay with these no matter who makes them. But Anderson is one of the safer bets as far as buying without playing, it's almost as if Anderson selects his woods from a tone point of view while Suhr selects the prettier woods that don't sound as good.

well, got to play it a little. in typical head up my ass fasion, i showed up a few minutes before closing time with no pick or strap. the thing played pretty nice, was suprisingly dead sounding acoustically. maybe had some beat 9's on it? could have sworn the thing had an 1 5/8" nut, because i usually have trouble playing with my pinky on the low E from the 12th fret down to the body, but got along with this one? looked it up when i got home, it's 1 11/16" with Koa on Basswood.

freaked out when i picked it up, damn it's light. anyways, for the time i had and the amp, just no way to tell on the sound. it's at a GC, so could buy and return, and maybe will if i can talk them down some. but since i figured out i can get along with thier 1 11/16" necks that makes way options for used available so probably bide my time and look around.
