Kyle makes such killer gear, and this pedal has me stoked. Gain/Level knobs, 3 band eq, tightness toggle, clipping toggle, what more do you need? I've always appreciated Jason's riffing...not sure his settings in this demo have me sold but I'm definitely interested!

Hmmm... I’ve got a lot of Rectifiers lying around. Might give it a try.

Preordered mine in January when he announced them. Taking longer than expected but I'm sure it will be worth it.

They should be shipping any day now. I bought that and the PA50 pretty much paid in full for. One good thing that come out of the Covid 19 debacle is it pushed back the shipping times and bought me some extra time to come up with the rest of the balance.

I really think as much time as Kyle spent on this its going to be a keeper and not the same old Tube screamer with a few component changes.

There is a lot of competition in this space but this one offers some nice switching options too.. sounded awesome with the JCM800 stock. Really liked that. Once again proving that the 800 circuit does it all!

I have this pedal and love it. I am not the biggest KSR amp guy, but that's a personal preference. Great pedal!

Curious if any of you have compared this to the Horizon Precision Drive, Highwind Dire Wolf, Airis Parallel Drive, Deadwell Duality or others?

I don't use these pedals for creating my high gain, I use them to shape my amp's gain abut or add punch when I'm in light to medium gain.

Thanks.

All the pedals you mentioned do basically the same thing, just a bit of a different flavor. I don't have the Direwolf or Duality but I do have the others you mentioned and several not mentioned. I have found that some work better on some amps than others, same with cabs. I find it good to have a handful of them lying around and when you want to switch things up just try them out and see which one works best. The KSR is a great pedal. The Ceres is wonderful as well.

I ended up selling my Eros once I got the Duality. The green channel just suited my taste and when I play lower tuned stuff the blue channel was my go to. Not to mention the red channel could make a fender chug.. The Eros is a cool pedal but it shouldn't be treated like a typical boost. It can do way more than the typical ts/808 setting. It's definitely something that needs experimentation.

Thanks for the info!!
You still have the KSR?
Instead of the Duality, I got the KSR Eros.
Loving the Eros and Jarrod From Tone Wars on YouTube tipped me off to it and so glad he did.
The Duality looks great but hard to find and I know I'll never use the clean boost portion. Maybe one day.

The Dualirty seemed more modern and I preferred what I heard from the Precision and similar pedals. I watched Ola do his shoot out and the Precision wa Amy favorite.

I was about to buy the Horizon Devices Precision Drive but I came across the JHS Bansai and love it. :)
Some of the settings remind me of the Precision which is even more my thing than the KSR, but like having both.

The Bonsai is my favorite right now.

The Bonsai is great, everybody should have one.

Yes I still have the KSR stuff.

I totally agree that these pedals all do pretty much thr same thing, for thr mosr part.
For that reason, and to watch my spending, I just have a few such pedals at the moment. I have and love the KSR Eros, Suhr Koko Boost and Bogner Burnley v2 which replaced my Bogner Red. I wouldn't mind a Bogner Blue or Wessex.
My amps do pretty much what I need and the boosts help me shape and get more out of them. The Eros really does that well. I actually enjoy boosts and ODs that help shape an amp, more th an the alp in a box pedals because I have my amp and it's tones as my base and then use my boosts and ODs to shape and change the tones a bit.

The Burnley I just use for another flavor at times. I tried the Revv G2 but I actually preffered the Burnley v2 and the Wessex v2.

I'm wondering if my Bonsai or any such tube screamer is a waste of money for me right now. The Eros can do so much tjay it easily does the thick, right mid boost of a tube screamer. That can do anything want in that regard, so why even have a pedal like a tube screamer or Bonsai? Maybe I'll get rid of it. It's taking up $200, lol.

So is it silly to have a tube screamer, Bonsai, Precision Drive, if I have an Eros?
I haven't owned a lot of TS pedals, but I know they help tighten up an amp, boost mids, which my Eros can do, and more.
Thanks!

I wouldn't call it silly. The Bonsai is a lot of pedal for not a lot of money in comparison. It really comes down to what you like / want and need. Sometimes, on the other hand, we don't always know what that is until we try. If you are happy with what you have, no need to go for more, especially if you need the cash and something is sitting unused. They all do the same thing in essence but they all sound a little different and pay with certain amps certain ways. That is why a lot of people go the EQ route. Using an EQ to shape and tighten often times alleviates the variances from amp to amp with certain pedals. Throw an EQ in and shape / sculpt away on any amp and you have something to work with whereas a pedal may or may not do the trick.

Thanks, I appreciate your advice!
I think EQ pedals in the past gave me fits with all the possible adjustments. I used one in the loop for shaping the tone but never tried. In front of an amp!

I may eventually grab an EQ but I have always enjoyed boost pedals and I torn between if something like the Bonsai or Precision Drive would essentially be the same as my Eros. I can tweak the Eros to do a thick mid boost.

I'll probably have to just buy one, like you said!

Thanks.

I watched a tube screamer comparison on YouTube where the guys says the Bonsai sounds like a blanket over the speakers, made everything muted.

I'm trying to determine whether the Bonsai is good enough or if I'd be better off with something like one of the new modified Maxon 808 pedals, like the Catalinbread, Earth Quaker Devices pedal, or 40th Anniversary Maxon 808.

Right now I only have the KSR Eros.
I sold a bunch.

I want at least one tube screamer or 808 pedal and maybe the Bonsai is good enough. But man, that Catalinbread and Earth Quaker Devices, sound killer.

The Bonsai doesn't sound like a blanket over the speakers. If you can't make a Bonsai work for a TS type of boost then you are on the wrong type of boost and or doing everything wrong. YMMV

Thanks, that's what I figured.
In thr end, I am finding that other pedals are working better for my needs, like the Eros, etc.
