KT88 in Herbert

hi friends,

did anyone test kt88 in the herbert?
i heard of any issues that they wouldn't survive very long in this amp.
other say they were the best sounding tubes there.
any opinions?
what about JJ KT88? or others?

I have kt88 in my herbert all 6 tubes. i love them shit load of top end. :rock:

which ones you have?
can you tell some more about the sound?
does it gain loudness?
 
I Have 4 kt-88's and 2 6550's in my herbert :rock:
the sound is alot more punchy with alot of head room
 
Exactly what he said. i have groove tubes china made the Highs. they have high med and low.
 
now i bought very cheap at the music fair in frankfurt one pair JJ KT88.
does anyone try to bias them at 100 mA / pair?
peter recommends the SED -C- 6550 and i like them, but i didn't want to
throw out all of my working EL34.
anyone tested 3 different pairs yet?

2 x KT88
2 x 6L6
2 x EL34

Klaus,

the KT88s are good sounding tubes but they are
originally not made for rough shipment.

I think it depends on the manufacture how
relaible the tubes are.

hi peter,

like we talked about.
of course i'd prefer the sed 6550.
but when i swap mine i'll change all.
i still like the sound of the el34 and there is
absolutely no reason for a change except my curiosity :confused:

so isser halt.
nach kurzer erholungsphase spüre ich wieder meine füße.
es war schon stressig, hat aber wie immer spass gemacht.
dein stand war ja fast eine kontaktboerse :D
laß uns später mal telefonieren.

mit grossem bedauern muß ich dir mitteilen, dass ich heute schon wieder
ein jahr älter geworden bin - wo soll das noch enden.....

ich werde noch ein bischen rumprobieren,
eigentlich mag ich ja die xxl, aber.....
 
Jein. Aber der Vielseitigkeit wegen glaube ich, werde ich mir doch die FL V30 holen. Die mit den Hempcones ist zwar allererste Sahne im Clean und Crunch, aber fürs Bandgefüge brauche ich fürs Feeling etwas mehr untenrum.
