What do you guys think of KxK guitars? How would you guys compare them to other brands like Mayones, ESP Custom, Jacskon Custom Shop, Bernie Rico Jr, or Schecter Custom Shop?

Haha, Carvin! Nope! Kxk are some downright amazing guitars. I have had 3 of em, a maple topped korina bodied custom, an all black limba sii-7 and the one Ive had the longest an all mahogany spalt maple top beauty. I will never let this one go, it's outlasted Jackson customs, BRJ and a few carvins. They definitely seem to be aimed at the shredder crowd as they have all had super thin necks but craftsmanship is top notch. The website does seem to be stuck in 2005 though. This is rig-talk so you should probably just get a Shur or Lp although if you do some searching elsewhere you will find mostly if not all positive feedback on Kxk. If resale value is a concern probably should be collecting coins not guitars

nothing excites me about anything on their website at all.
Im sure the resale value is just as un inspiring.

What a douche!

I usually buy gear that I want and when no longer wanted I sell it at fair prices, usually a discount from what I paid since it has been used more. That said pretty sure I could get close to what I paid for my Kxk out of it as I have had unsolicited offers for it. Personally I don't think gear flipping for profit is that important but we definitely differ there. Resale aside my Kxk is the most inspiring guitar to play that I own, it will be buried with me!

Don't think I'll get a clip up but maybe I'll put up some pics. He builds customs so you know whatever you want you can have. The in stock stuff he's been putting up seems pretty basic for the price but He has accepted an offer from me before. Anyway not trying to convince anyone, I have mine and love it. Has the fastest neck of any guitar I have ever played. OP asked if anyone had one and what they thought of it. I prefer it to my USA Jacksons.

I've owned several KxKs over the years and currently own 3. When it comes to build quality they're on par with Suhr, Anderson, PRS etc etc. Fantastic guitars.

I have got one beautiful KXK and was like a discounted run for few of the members at SS org... i took the plunge and Rob was cool guy... i gotta black with purple marblized color all mahogany guitar with nice ebony fretboard... very very beautiful guitar... but i made a mistake tuning the truss rod too tight and broke it.... lol my painful experience damn till now i have not get the truss rod fix yet.... maybe i will do it soon.

Very well build guitar no flaws and just that the kxk is kind of thin on the neck near the body and it gets slightly fatter near the headstock... i will put it on par with suhr? But maybe better than a custom select jackson soloist since some jackson can be a hit and a miss ?

I have owned a KxK K.K.Downing model with a Floyd Rose Speedloader since 2011. I had a discussion with K.K. after the Judas Priest show in Helsinki in 2008 and he really loved his new KxK guitar. It was unbeliavable that he actually could play the whole show with just that single guitar without any issues and how well the guitar stayed in tune during the concert. I was little surprised of this "Speedloader" thing because he usually has been playing Kahler equipped guitars since mid '80's but now he was seemingly excited about his new guitar and this tremolo system that I had never heard before. As soon as I could place my order I did and haven't regretted since. Mine is the first KKDV (S/N #005) of the limited series offered to public and it's almost a true replica of K.K.'s white V. It's also my first guitar with a scalloped fretboard.

Build quality is extremely good and attention to details is on a par or better with anything else I have owned, customs or std production guitars. I have only two guitars that don't need neck adjustments because of seasonal changes of humidity and the KKDV is the other of them. The other one is a Finnish custom made Amfisound KV which also has carbon fiber reinforcement rods in neck just like my KxK does. Really great instrument!

I've had 2-3 7 strings in normal scale and baritone. Just couldn't get on with the neck because it got super thin (scarily thin) by the heel.

Anyone else? Have any of you guys gotten to compare them to ESP custom shop or Mayones guitars? Those have been my favorites so far for super strat type guitars

I've had a KxK Sii 7 for a couple years and it's amazing. I had a Mayones Regius and the KxK is comparable for sure. For me, it's right up there with one of the must-have guitars. It took me a long time to get one. It plays like complete butter. The upper neck is the thinnest of any 7 string guitar I've ever played. I love that, it's like playing my Ibanez PGM301 but only 7 strings instead of 6.

Is there anything specific you're looking for about them? I think the resale value holds its own.

I see a lot of people commenting about the necks, it's probably worth noting that unless it's an in-stock style guitar KxKs are customs and you can get any neck profile you'd like. The stock profile from my old Sii-7 (before I got a custom neck profile on my builds) was very similar to the necks on my old Ibanez PWH UVs

I'm almost positive it's KxK that a friend of mine had an endorsement with for a while. He had a choice of KxK or Jackson endorsements, and went with KxK. He has nothing but good things to say about them.
