So I have wanted to try the newer TI100 since it came out in 2012. Finally picked one up at a great price. Let me start off by saying this amp has more gain than should be allowed by law.  It’s crazy. It has two channels that can do extreme metal. I actually prefer the rhythm channel over all, with no boost. The pre-gain thing doesn’t work for me at all, on either channel. Maybe with low gain pickups it could work but I use really high gain pickups (Fishman Fluence Moderns in the vid)so it’s just way too much. This amp is very modern to me. Huge bottom end, pretty clear overall, great mid cut and grind. The treble is not over bearing or harsh. Of course it can sound like ass if not properly dialed in. It can run 6L6 or EL34. I preferred the EL34 in it so I ordered up a quad of Ruby’s from Valve Queen(she is awesome).

Most of you guys know I like the dumb lights and this amp is no exception! The crosses on the grill are cool as well. Would love to find the matching 4X12.

Since I liked this TI100 so much I started looking for the older GH100TI that came out around ‘93-‘95? Found one super cheap and snatched it up. This amp really surprised me as well. This amp doesn’t have the huge bottom end the other one has but it’s more than plenty. It has a crazy awesome aggressiveness to the mids. It’s really addicting. Considering the time this amp came out I really think it’s a winner. Super fun to play.

Anyway. Here they are.

Nice!!! I had a "GH" one years ago and didn't have it long because it was so LOUD!!! LOL! Great sounding amp though.

You did it right too, but playing an SG into it. You have to!!! :) Enjoy the amps!

I applaud you on your collection of amps! did you buy those chrome shelves at home depot?

Nice score Tommy boy!!!
You are such a horrible influence on me.

I thought it would be way too middy for modern metal, but that actually to my ears sounds even a bit scooped. Sounds good, with lower gain I think it would be a great recording amp.

Thanks for checking it out. I had the mids up pretty high. A guy could back them off a bit to bring even more modern if need be.

Great videos, I'm a huge Laney fan, I've owned several different GH100L's and they were all fantastic

Thanks bro! I really am getting along with them both. Makes me want to try an Ironheart 120. :D

I tried a GH100TI years ago and found it was too mushy. I was trying it where I couldn't turn it up too much. Wonder if it needs volume to tighten it up. Or maybe it needed different pre's to bring the goods. The one in your vid sounds great. My 80's, 6 knob Pro tube 50 is an amazing amp. The bass boost is incredible and it does awesome classic/hard rock tones. With a pedal it crushes. Wouldn't mind finding a 100 watt version but all I see are the 8 knob versions that I don't care for. Maybe they never made the 6 knob model as a 100?

The first thing I did was check the bias on the power tubes and retube the preamp section. I have the luxury of playing at band volume all the time. It’s how I prefer to hear my tube amps and get the goods from them. Never tried it at low volume so I’m not sure if it turns to shit or not? I am really having fun with both these amps!

I was watching a killswitch engage, IIRC, rig rundown and they were using the new Iommi heads. They said they had been using ironhearts but liked the Iommi’s a lot more

I have to admit, I opened this thread expecting to hear crappy tone…
I was wrong, they sound great, and tight! Good job
