My P-90 loaded Hamer Korina Special is one of my favorite guitars...when I got it it came loaded with a set of Jim Wagner WCR P-90's. Killer tones but damn it was proving unusable in the places we're playing, just noisy AF and getting pretty squealy at high volumes with any amount of high gain.

Yesterday I dropped a set of Mojotone 56 Quiet Coil P-90's in it with the hot bridge wind and damn if it didn't solve all those problems, absolutely crushes, just awesome. Dead nuts quiet, al the P-90 magic is still there and it doesn't sound like a stacked single coil / humbucker thing. Really cant say enough how impressed I am with them.

Yeah if you're playing loud or driving the amp hard they can be noisey bastards, but oh the tone!

Not had much luck with noiseless P90's, may have to check out those Mojotones.

Had a rehearsal tonight and the guitar sounded incredible. Those guys have all heard that same guitar and were kinda blown away how good it sounded. In general I don't like the noiseless P90's either either because they just end up sounding like weak humbuckers. We play pretty loud and its straight up rock stuff - Thin Lizzy, Sabbath, Petty, STP, Stones...even used it on Jet City Woman and it was killer. Played only that guitar all night and would normally go between a Les Paul and a Tele. The Special is BACK hahah, zero hum or noise and nothing but P90 clarity and grind. really cant say enough about these pickups, only downside is Mojo is 12-14 weeks out on production. I scored these used but would not hesitate to buy them new, I also recommend the hot bridge / 56 neck combo. Our other guitar player is ordering a set for his Les Paul that looks just like the OP's beautiful guitar above.

This thread is painful, as a p90 guitar is a big hole in my collection. Played a few used sg guitars with p90s that came into the shop and they just weren’t speaking to me. The search continues.

One of the best things about Gibsons with P-90s is that you don't typically need to tone chase with new pickups. The factory ones are great sounding IMO.
