Time to build up the amp rig for use with my cover band. Been using a GSP1101 straight into the board while I focused on the PA and light rigs.

Going to convert my MOD50 combo into a head. First decision is whether to build the rig in a head/rack combo case or get 2 separate cases. Modules are VX and EG3/4, also have a SL2 that will probably be carried as a backup. Midi pedal is a Liquid Foot that also controls the PC running Light Jockey. Only other issue is I need to split the guitar signal so that 1 goes to the rack/amp and a second goes to my Digitech Vocalist.

Here is the list of stuff.

Guitars: main Wolfgang stop tail, backup Wolfgang Flame Top Special set to Drop D
Amps: Egnater Mod50 combo with VX, SL2 and EG3/4 (loaded with EL34's)
Rack FX: GSP1101 (2), Rocktron Multivalve, Line6 Mod Pro, GMajor, Suhr MiniMix, , Rocktron Rack Interface
Pedals:
Delay: DM2, DD3 (MIJ), CC V2
Mod: MM4 (Keely modded), EVH Phase90, Verbzilla, Arion SFL-1, AW2
OD: OD808, TS9, MS10, Barber Silver LTD, Catalinbread Super Charged OD & Super Chili Picoso
Other: GS7, Tone Press, Smartgate, 2 MXR 10 band EQ's with power cords, 2 of each Rockman half rack

Midi: CFX4, GRX4(2), MFC5, Liquid foot (main controller).
Other Stuff: Sennheiser Digital 1000 wireless, Pedal Power AC2, 8 ohm Hotplate, Weber Minimass

Starting with the head. I'd go ahead with a separate cab instead of incorporating it into the rack. That way if you want to ever grab and go, or take the amp out anywhere you're not forced into roadie mode just to deal with it.

Man that's a lot of gear. You have my head spinning!

Plus one - I do that also so I can use different heads with everything else.

I think you could do more than one rig with all that stuff.
Then you could hook it up for what you are doing and have a back up.

Here's the deal I gig 2-4 weekends every month so there isn't much extra jamming. Since I have to setup PA and lights along with my rig I like to set up, plug in the guitar then plug the rig into the snake.

Yeah, I tend not to sell anything but think that has to change.

Then you need to know what you need for what you do and not bring much more. Is that everything there.

You do have some cool stuff in there.

I guess what it comes down to I am not even sure what you are asking ?

Here, Takes 2 people to lift. I 'm not using the GCX's right now but might just to split my signal for the second M4 - amp setup. I have One 2 space spot above the RT2/50 waiting for my other M4 to show up in the mail. The TC is switching the pedals on the tray and i have gone frome 2 trays of pedals down to 4 pedals. :D

Looks great. I see what you mean two people.

Thought it might be a fun exercise to put a rig together :)

Probably going to have Dave Friedman build me a FX rack with the GMajor and some pedals. Then I'll carry a rack bag with the GSP in it for small stage and private party gigs where stage volume is a issue.

Pedals in the rack will probably be Barber Silver, EVH Phase90, Flanger and maybe a chorus. Or maybe the Mod Pro instead of individual mod pedals.

Stuff I left off the list: Dean Markley DR40RM, PV Rockmaster, Rockman XPR (2) and of course the slew of guitars.

Maybe I'll open a online store with all this stuff :)

For me, personally, I don't like to gig with anything that takes more than just myself to move it.

I tried that route before, in my old band, with a 2x12 in a huge ATA road case. I got really tired of my begging my band members to help me. LONG after they were done loading out and on their 2nd beer already.

I'm all for making as few connections as possible to be up and running, but I'd still try to seperate your rig into manageable portions, weight wise.

Head. Pedalboard. Effects Rack. Cabinet. Makes sense. Plus, breaking it down piecemeal, you can fit it into different kinds of cars easier.

And probably alot easier to move than JBLaxe's mini-fridge of sonic goodness down there!

Something that tremendously helped me out in my setup/teardown is a cable snake. I just have a budget one. Basically (3) 1/4" cables and my MIDI cable velcro'd together, but man, a lot less tangles and a lot easier to setup.

Ned, I'm telling you, get an Axe FX. Used mine direct to the board for some Casino gigs, worked great... don't know how the Casinos are in your areas, but out here they constantly bitch about stage volume. I went out FOH (I'm wireless) and the sound was fantastic. The Axe is 2 rack spaces, take that and a decent foot controller - I have had good price/performance with a newer Ground Control Pro - and a few volume style controller pedals for wah and volume.

If I toured or even played out i would start with a Egnater 2x12 with a mic elim installed, a 4 space rack (1 sp monster power,TC G system and Eggie M4) and a 2 space rack with a RT2/50 or VHT 2/90/2. Simple and only 3 pieces of gear oh and the tc controller so maybe a simple pedal board with 2 boss fv500 exp pedals. :D If adding wireless id use one of those Line6 in pedal form and just have a velcro pad on top of the rack case.

No casino's here my friend.

I'm going to go with a FX rack, head and cab. Jeff is sending me a head case to convert my combo. I'll use the GSP1101 for the "quiet" gigs. I'm loving my MOD50 with the GMajor right now especially the EG3/4 and VX B channel.

That EG3/4 on ch B is my favorite lead tone. I havent gotten my VX module yet but im excited about the phone call that the M4 is ready to ship.

Doh, for some reason I thought you were playing volume-nazi places like casinos. Nothing sounds as good as a cranked tube amp, but the axe gets close enough IMHO and sounds better 99% of the time out front than anything I've ever used live (mesa, bogner, marshall, fender, budda, randall, egnater (TOL!), etc.)
