Line 6 DL4 through the loop on a VH4?

Hey I tried to run my DL4 through both the loops on a Diezel VH4, on each one when I activate the delay it KILLS the output and tone, but other pedals in the same loop work fine. The same pedal, cables, and everything works great through my Budda Superdrive loop, am I missing something with regards to the VH4 and the DL4? Has anyone else tried to run their DL4 through the VH4's serial loop?

Use the parallel loop and the mix volume. Less A/D/A conversion going on. Or better yet, use the channel insert if you are needed the FX only on one channel.

I've tried the parallel, and it actually sounds worse than the serial (and yes, I am fully aware of how to use the mix volume, so that can't be it). I am talking about a massive change in output and tone here, not something that's small and subtle and you have to switch back and forth to hear it. This is a BIG change in sound. Has anyone else tried this particular pedal in any of the VH4 loops?

I'm not familiar with those pedals really, but, does it have an input calibration/gain level on the pedal? The line level of the loop might be making it clip? Just a thought because I don't really know. I know I had to do that with my T.C. Nova delay then it was good to go.

There's no gain level control or anything on the DL4. I find it hard to believe NOBODY on this forum has tried a DL4 through their loop! Anyone? Bueller?

Go ask James Hetfield.

Hey man,

I run a DL-4 in my einstein and also used to run it in an RM100, the DL-4 have a volume dropping issue, they actually get quieter when you turn on the delay. It's a known part of the pedal and actually I think Keely mods it so it doesn't have this issue for a good chunk of money, along with other upgrades.

First off if your going to run it in the Parallel loop you have to put the volume of the DL-4 all the way to the MAX, otherwise you'll get phasing issues. It works different than the serial loop. I don't have mine modded, but here's the solution I found, if you put pedal with a buffer, for example any boss pedal (I'm using a TU-2) after the out put of the DL-4 in the effects loop and use the Parallel, I've found the volume drop basically vanishes, I can't really tell it does it anymore. The other thing is, the Diezel loops to my ears are MUCH more sensitive to cable length and single strength loss than my RM100 was. Also, the other problem you'll run into, is different delay sounds have different volume levels, I really only use one delay sound because the others are just to different volume wise to mess with. If you use the serial loop its fine but I think it sucks to much tone... just my personal opinion.

Hope this helps!
