That usb connector into the base receiver was always a bit worrisome- I bought a few new cords to try to keep a tight fit in it because when that gets loose NO SOUND
I was able to jam it without issue....until tonight. Mostly dark, 1 flicker of life...then dark
I can't find where I bought this thing to get it under warranty repair, so frustrated, so I went wireless shopping. I really liked the tone of the G10 and the no battery thing, but that usb connector ugggh

I snagged an XVive U2. No batteries, no base to take up real estate. I hope it sounds good!

Just crack that sucker open and glue the cable to the jack lol... But yeah I also have the G10 and so far so good but I totally understand what your saying ;)

No batteries? It has "Li-Ion batteries that last up to 5 hours on a charge"...

I have the XVive U2, I like it. That said, you might want to use a gate in front, which I always do anyways. The things charge pretty damn quick too.

No batteries as in loads of disposable aaa

Why a gate in front? Some kind of buffer thing?

Mine picks up a little noise when running high gain sounds.

The G10 or XVive? Crap, you likely mean XVive

Yes, the Xvive. You're probably imagining it to be worse than it is, don't sweat it. I am very happy with mine regardless- doesn't get in the way, does what it's supposed to, doesn't mess up my tone, and I don't have to feed it batteries. Not having a cord encourages me to play more often.

It’s a weak point on the unit, no question. They should have just had a DC jack in there and done. Some folks have modified it with that.

I’ve been using mine since the summer and had many gigs with it. No issued. I used a 90degree cable end on mine and zip tied that part to a stick on post so it does not move. I power mine with a temple audio usb D-port. Works fantastic.

I had the XVive for 2 days now. SUCKS. Tiny Dropouts all the time. Probably due to my wifi being nearby, but G10 never had this issue once. Check the recent SM2 video I just did- awful. I'll get my G10 fixed or get another G10 if I have to.

XVive: It's going back

I need to explore that ^
I really don’t want to get one that needs constant batteries if possible

Wow I didn't realize the full extent of the that jack breaking off til just now... Googled it, came across a Line 6 thread with mods and what not -> http://line6.com/support/topic/22109-relay-g10-usb-input-poor-design/page-1

Since mine isn't broken yet, I was thinking of cracking mine open and epoxing the shit out of the jack from the inside lol... shouldn't be any adverse affects from that huh?  I'm totally going to do that.

Why not get the G50 or G90?
This. I gigged a G50 for years with zero problems. I played a few huge stages, too. Flawless performance. Batteries lasted a lot longer than I would expect, too.

I just read through that thread. I'm going to ask a local place to mod it for me, but there's part of me that wants to take it outside and blast at it with a hamer, make it suffer for failing me :gethim:

I would be the same way... thats why im going to epoxy the shit out of it... either way if it breaks on me i'm gonna smash it to pieces haha

Updates:
G10: the repair guy said it would take him all day to fix it therefore not cost effective
Uggh this may get smashed soon

XVive: much better away from my WiFi
Looks like I may keep it!

I've been using the G70 with no issues and I use rechargeable batteries that last around 7-8 hours on one charge.
