Lineout into soundcard problems?

I've hooked up an XLR from the lineout of my Renegade, then into an XLR to 3.5mm stereo jack convertor, and into my sound card. I'm using Amplitube to record.
All I'm getting is a very faint and distorted signal. I tried going through my Audio Buddy preamp and basically get the same thing, which leads me to believe it's my sound card, although an SM57 through the Audio Buddy works fine even though I'm just getting one channel.

Can anyone steer me in the right direction here? My sound card is an onboard card that uses the Realtek High Definition Audio driver.

What's the best way to record to my computer with the lineout simulated speaker output?

Thanks a lot

You know the record out on the Renegade is not for "silent" recording? You must still have a speaker or load connected to the head.

Mr. Egnater! This an honor sir! Your Renegade is the best amp I've ever owned, and I've been playing for 30+ years and owned a lot of amps. Beautiful work, thanks you very much for your expertise and for making such a versatile and awesome sounding amp!

Yeah, I do know it's not for silent recording, and I definately have my marshall 1960b cab plugged in. I guess I just need to know the best way to hook the lineout into my computer to record.

Thanks a lot for getting back man, that's totally cool.

There is really no reason this shouldn't work. I suggest confirming the line is functioning properly by plugging into a mixer or? Are you able to do that?
