Hello everyone..noobie here.

Im close to getting a Mod50 with the Vox and Hot Rod Marshall modules. However, Im in search of a sort of Liquid lead tone in the vein of modern Gilmour (momentary lapse of reason, Pulse) and also Van Halen rhythm tone. I really love SLO´s and CAE OD100´s. Which module would you recommend for liquid gain that resembles those amps?

EG3/4
EG5
Both have a liquid lead tone. EG3/4 is darker, smooth, smokey sounding. EG5 is a lot brighter in the mids but still has a very liquid tone, specially on channel B.

I agree. An eg3/4 is exactly as he described it, or eg5 if you can never seem to get enough gain and like things on the brighter side.

Never played an SLO but eg5 is suppose to be close to it.

I use an EG3/4 and it's great for Gilmour. I have alot of pedals on a rack tray with a gcx for his tones and with the EG3/4 on ChB (4) and a TC G system (Gilmour delay's) i haven't used the pedals much.Eg3/4 is great for his leads and the Erect ch A clean and Ch B rhythm (Comf Numb) is a great combo. I have an eg5 and it has been sitting on the shelf since the EG3/4 has arrived. EG5 reminds me of the 80,s and bright, a great mod i just haven't found " it " with it. I have the erect eg3/4 sl sl2 eg5 and favor erect eg3/4 and sl. Hope that helps.

In my limited experience with EG5 I find it is very similar to the SLO I played in the studio. It has a big high-mid hump on channel A. I found that channel B is a bit bassier and has WAAAAAAAAAAAAY more gain. I have the bass boost on 2, mids and bass cranked, and treble at about 11 o'clock right now. Gain on both around 11-noon. I absolutely LOVE this tone. Very elegant and as you put it liquid.

As others have said, EG5 is the closest to SLO. I used to have an SLO-100 and I dont miss it.

The most liquid tone I've gotten = SL chB with the MXR Distortion III. I'm talking LIQUID.

Otherwise, I would definitely say EG 3/4.

Either way, I like all of the Egnater Modules more than the SLO or CAE.
