I played my first live gig with the M4 rig this past weekend - actually two full nights, on Friday and Saturday.

This was a reunion of a rock cover band that I toured with 30+ years ago. We had a full complement of musicians: two keyboard players, two guitarists (me being one), a bass player, drummer, and two singers.

The report I got on the M4 rig is that it cut through the mix like a knife, and had incredible clarity. I used the VX, SL2X, and COD modules in about equal measure. The sound guy mic'ed the Blue Dog (rather than the Silver Bell). The other guitarist was playing through a Vox AC30 and a Fender Blues Junior running into a Marshall 1960 cab. He had a very gutsy stage sound but I am told that it just didn't show up quite as well in the mix. I think one difference is that I didn't have to rely on any overdrive or distortion pedals - just the hot channel of whatever module I needed was ample. Plus the Weber speakers are damned fine sounding.

Speaking of the COD: Lemme tell you guys, if you want a sound that is guaranteed to blast through a mix, this is your go-to module. The midrange character that makes it sound a little weak in your bedroom just loves a live situation and sounds very very strong.

The whole rig worked flawlessly with no hiccups and sounded superb. I'm a happy camper. Thanks to Bruce and company for such a stellar product.

Glad you had such a good experience. I know what you mean about the COD too! I sold mine recently, but at some point, will be buying another one, probably at the same time I get an EG3/4 to fill my Mod50 and my M4!

Some people claim that the modular series has lost some of its mystique recently, but that doesn't change the fact that we've got tone for days, and then some!

Modular amps may have lost a bit of mystique to some people, but they're still the Swiss Army knives of guitar amps. :D I don't know how else you can get this kind of versatility combined with excellent sound.

There does seems to be kind of a movement back toward small combo amps. But look at the Mesa Mk V - a combo amp with a channel for every Mesa ever made.

When I set up my rig, it looks just like a head on top of a 2 X 12 until you get close enough to see the rack cases.

COD LOVE!!!! AMEN!!! :worship:
I love the COD!!!
It is a very, very, very, very underrated module on this forum.
