Live Music Scene In Europe?

I was just curious if anyone could tell me what the club scene in Germany and/or other parts of Europe is like these days? Is there a market for cover/dance bands/original acts, or is it mostly DJ'd HipHop markets like most of the U.S.? I'm not looking for a job or to relocate my band or anything, I was just curious if the unfortunate demise of "Live Venues" is a worldwide epidemic or just another unfortunate by-product of American Fadism?

It's been really good for metal and rock bands in Europe for as long as I can remember. It's very different from the US, but there's also a lot of hiphop and stuff like that...blame MTV.
