I'm looking for a decent rack tuner. My needs are something off the ground, I can see from across the room, accurate, and is fairly transparent since my amps don't have tuner out & it'll be run in line. In my searches the only things that come up are a few different models of Korg rack tuners; Used DT1Pro, DTR 1, 2, 1000, 2000 and New Korg Pitchblack. I'm not keen on the Pitchblack being made of all plastic. I don't feel it'd hold up over time. Is there any difference in accuracy between the Korg tuners or is it a matter of feature set? Are there any other rack tuners new or used that I should be looking for?

A lot of the guys with the killer racks swear by the Peterson Stroborack. They are a bit pricey though.

Unfortunately a Peterson's is more than I'm willing to spend

There's not really good options outside of the Petersen if you want accuracy. Korg is about it. They're accurate enough for gigs.

I have 3 KORG Pitchblacks in different rigs. They are great for the $99-120 they sell for.

Accurate enough for gigs is good enough for me. The main use would be in my home practice space. Would probably travel with me to friends' places for jams.

How do you feel about it being all plastic and having plastic mounts? Does it feel like cheap thin stuff or is it decently robust?

I have a DT1-Pro that I bought in 1993. Never a problem. It's on right now. Nobody needs a 6 input tuner anymore.

My bud's DTR-2 is 20 years old. No issues there either. I don't love the silver.

If I was in your situation, I would spend that money on something cool like a nice hand-truck. And buy a Snark SN-1 for $20. Those things are great.
