Hey guys,

i'm totally new in Diezel Amps and want to ask what would be the best amp to get a similar sound like this:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=oeZGGBLpbsM

But that's not the only sound i like. I also like some more old school sounds like Motley Crue or something. Avenged Sevenfold has also a cool sound.

I don't need many functions, like midi and so on. I just need a tight amp with a good sound. If the sound is good i could live on with a 2 channel head. ;)

Good nite...

I am using an Einstein with historic Gibson Les Pauls--I have the deep and bass down to about the 10 o'clock position, and I use the 3rd mode of channel one, with the gain around 2 o'clock, and the second channel with the gain around 3 and a bit more bass (I use that channel for leads only usually). When I am in Texas mode on the first channel, I may turn the gain up a bit or hit it with the fulltone fulldrive 2, just to tighten it up a bit. I think that I get a great classic rock, metal sort of thing with that setting.
I roll off the volume on the Les Pauls to get a clean sound, rarely do I use the clean setting on channel one--now if it were footswitchable, that'd be another story.

Rest assured, this amp will do what you want-I play that style and I would never get another amp after owning this one--it is THAT goodf! :)

Hello,

you use a fulltone fulldrive to tighten up? Uh, that doesn't sound good. Isn't the Einstein tight enough? I think that's something an amp has to be. If i have to tighten it up with a booster it's probably the false amp!?!

Bye bye

No, I only use the fulltone at low volumes when recording; it sounds great when it is up a bit (out of the bedroom) without the fulltone. It is just another option I use for getting more sounds out of the amp. Trust me-you get a great classic rock sound in Texas mode or mode 3 of channel 1 with the gain down a little. I am a tone freak and a big lover of the Slash sound, and I can get that sound and so much more with this amp. I can say with no hesitation that I would get this amp over anything else out there, and I could've bought anything.

Hi,

sounds good. Did you try the VH4 and the Herbert too? Whats the advantage of the Einstein in your opinion? Not just the price or what? ;-)

OK, this is only because I didn't spend a bunch of time with the VH4 and none with the Herbert, but my impression was that the Einstein was a little more up my alley with the whole "classic rock" thing, which is what I mostly play; the VH4 can probably do anything, but for something that I can quickly dial in and get the sounds I want, plus simple switching options, the Einstein does it. To my ear, it seems to favor the classic rock thing moreso that the VH4, but the Einstein can definitely go into that metal zone too (I can nail the Adam Jones sound with the Einstein in mode 3 with my LP Custom). I imagine that the Vh4 can do the classic rock thing with one of its channels too, but the Einstein seems to do it easily, if that makes any sense.

I use the Einstein with a 4x12 cabinet with greenbacks in it, which also favors the classic rock sound, although I am thinking about getting a Diezel cabinet.

Maybe someone else can offer some input here too.

BTW, where are you located? If you are anywhere near Sacramento, CA., you're more than welcome to come by and test drive my amp-I think you'll love it.

Hey,

i'm from germany...
I'm happy to hear that you didn't realised it because of my genglish ;-))

Da hat wohl einer in der Schule gut aufgepasst.
Übrigens ist Trivium einer meiner Lieblingsbands

Any Diezel amp will be able to play any style, BUT depending on YOUR personal hearing and playing style, one of them may suit you better then another will.
I play a lot of different styles except shred and extreme metal. One of the current bands I play in does play more classic rock. I have used the VH4, the Herbert, and the Einstein for these situations over the time that I have first started playing on Diezel amps back in 2002.
For guitars, I have used Historic Les Paul R9's, R8's Cloud 9 R9's, ES 355's, Historic ES 335's, CS 336's and CS 356's, as well as Fenders and Edwards.

Depending on how you like the response of a given Diezel amp, that will tell you which amp you prefer.
The VH4 is very tight and unforgiving, while the Herbert is a touch springier in feel. The Einstein is very flexible, and can sound slightly more vintagey, but when you want it to sound tighter, it can, especially the 100 watt version. Since you are in Germany, it would be advisable to try each model out prior to just buying one, but from what you like in amps, I would think that the Einstein should please you very much.
Good luck in choosing and happy hunting.
Stephen

O.K.,

hope I won't be missunderstood -

but seriously from my point of view -

if Peter Stapfer is the BOSS

and Olaf Krampe is the DOC

then C-4 (Stephen) is „the PROF!

and Peter Diezel is „THE MAN!“
(I think, he won’t feel comfartable as Chancellor – I think, but you never know!)

Thanks Stephen for your comments! How do we say in Germany – your postings have Hands and Feet!
