Trying to stay busy throughout all of this! The Marshall Silver Jubilee 2555X has been on my list of amps to check out for a while and it does not disappoint. I'd go as far as to say it's my favorite Marshall. It retains the punch and balls of an 800 (though just a tiny bit less) with added gain that sounds much more lush than a JCM900 or JVM to my ears. The master volume has a really slow taper making it easier to get good tones at quieter volumes. Tried to pick out some riffs that would showcase the 2555x. Check it out! ⚡

I'm hip!

YES! I don't know why I didn't check them out earlier. GREAT amp.
I tried one several years ago, and never went back. Love that '68 LPC btw.

I just got an original 2553 smallbox two weeks ago on the local Facebook Marketplace. I had been shopping for another 2555x, but then this unicorn amp popped up local to me. I still jones for the black ones Sweetwater is selling, but have to wait until those hit the used market.

Had one of the first 2555x's that came in to Canada. Sounded F'n great! Killer amp.
I stupidly let it go in a deal for a '93 SLO ( since sold ) but it was the only way I could swing the SLO at the time, so it went.
I would buy another one in a heartbeat if I saw one for sale locally.

I need a Jube. Maybe one of the mini's if I can find a good used one.

Of all the amp demos you have done, even the BE100 Deluxe and Diezels, this by far is your best tone to date. The Marshalls stock or modded have something going on in the DNA of the mid's that you just can't get in other amps.

Damn! Thanks a bunch. Definitely learning as I go on making demos, but having a good time with it. I really clicked with this amp when I first plugged it in. It has a very familiar feel to me coming from having played Friedman amps for the past 6 or 7 years. I always like the tone of Marshall like 800s and Plexi's but sometimes the feel is a bit on the stiff side for me. They always sound killer when I hear other people playing them, but then I play them and it doesn't feel as inspiring under the fingers in the way that Friedmans do for me. Maybe I'm a wuss in that respect but it is what it is haha. Then I played this 2555x and it was kind of like the best of both worlds. It's got the big chunk and cut to it, but also a bit more compression under the fingers. The BE100 Deluxe isn't going anywhere, but this Jubilee is sticking around. Thanks again for the kind words.

One of my favorite amps. I've had 6 originals; 4 87s and 2 88s. One of every model..2554 to 2555. Plus 1 2555x. The reissues are great; they may pale just a tiny bit when you get them cooking at volume. The Original Iron takes the title by just a bit. My favorite is the 2554; it doesn't have a choke but a resistor instead. Something about that amp; my first was a black tolex 88 2554 that I used to play out for 4 yrs. That amp had the creamiest mids ever.

The 2555x, the great thing about that amp is the 'customizing' you can do with the power tubes...you can put ANY 2 pairs or quads of octal tubes that you want. So you like 6L6 tone? Put in a quad and re bias. How about 2 KT88s and 2 EL34? Done. 6550s and 6L6? Why not. I grabbed a quad of KT90s and talk about KT88s on steroids with EL34 mids! Great tubes and made that amp sound absolutely huge. Bias test points are on the outside of the chassis too.

Honestly it's the one Marshall that really can do almost any style you want, with one boost pedal for HR/Metal. Great loop too. The best way to run it is to crank the lead master and run output to taste. The clean is underrated and as long as you don't engage the Rhythm clip it will stay totally clean. The only Marshall that truly loves V30s. 65s and GBs are great too. Best EQ response of any Marshall. You can really dial in some crushing low end in it....almost as much as a Mesa.

 After playing a 2554, I sold my 2550 head. I found a mint Canada version 2554 combo on Reverb for a decent price. My favorite Marshall.

Killer tone right there...and some great playing as well

I gave these a quick looksy right before moving on the QR I grabbed recently. I here similarity in the tone between the two. Might have to visit one of these in the future.

Every time I've played a 2555x I had a smile on my face. These have solid state clippers in them no?

Congrats and great playing

I believe they use LEDs for the clipping. When you pull the Rhythm clip, they engage from what I remember.
