hey guys,
any users of the LTD EC500 out there? if so, how does it play? built quality? fret board?

Any other info would help.

Thanks

hey duke
i've got one and been gigging with it for a couple of weeks now. It's quite good, plays and feels very close to an ec-1000 deluxe, the only differences are the non locking grover tuners, no tone-pros hardware, maybe the neck is a bit thicker. I haven't played an ec1000 in a while but the 500 doesn't quite feel like the neck of an ec1000. The body shape is the same, thin-ish with the stomach contour and all. Craftsmanship I'd say is on par, cosmetics; well i've noticed a little offness with the body binding. Oh and the battery clip on the back, it's not the same type as the ec-1000 where you just take it off and put the new battery in, the cover's a screw on!

Otherwise it's pretty good. Toneful and sturdy!

Thanks for the info bro!

what about the EC 400VT?

Any LTD above the 400 level is gonna be a pretty nice guitar for the money. You can get them pretty cheap on eBay and such. Most of them have lots of nice features for how much they are.

yeah.. alot of people speak well of the LTD EC400VT guitar. Gonna have to check them out sometime.

From the ones Ive tried, the 500 seems to be a nice guitar. I want a black one. Looks like a modern LP Classic.

I think they look better than the 1000s. Can't stand the Abalone binding.

I played a 400VF that was very nice. I would have preferred a 4-knob LP arrangement, but that was really my only knock against it.

Cool! I'll have to check the 400VF too.

I am not really worried about the 4-knob Lespaul configuration. even on my Epi Custom LP I dont turn anything down other than the Bridge volume when not playing. Other wise, its all up all the way.

Anyone else with comments on the EC500 or the 400VF?

Quick question guys.. i noticed that the EC500 has 24 frets and the EC400VT has 22 but both are the same size scale (24.75").

Will having different number of frets but same scale size have any change/affect on the tone of the guitar? sustain?

Thanks!

The neck pickup is closer to the bridge on the 24-fret guitar. So the neck pickup tone will be different between the two, at least.

Thanks! I guess I'll have to try both and see how I feel about both tone wise, playability, feel, etc..

At the moment, I am kinda stuck between the 2 because I like the idea of having the EMGs in there so I can make the switch to the Duncan Blackouts alot easier than having to rewire everything.. and the fact that it has 24 frets. But If the body of the 400VT is thicker a bit more and has "better" tone (tone is subjective in this case).
