I'd like to run my M4 into one of the loops of my Mesa Road King II and switch from the M4 to the RKII with my GC Pro and GCX Audio Switcher. Anyone doing anything like this? I'm curious about how you'd wire this up.

Thanks.

I have not done that with a road king / m4, but I have done something very similar w/ the GCX and 2 preamps before. What I would do is run two amps, w/ my Lexicon MPXG2.

Guitar --> cable --> pedalboard in --> assortment of pedals --> pedalboard out --> gcx

GCX Loop 1 in --> out from pedalboard
GCX Loop 1 send --> PreAmp 1 input (Road King input)
GCX Loop 1 return --> PreAmp 1 output (Road King EFX Loop send)
GCS Loop 1 out --> GCX Loop 2 in

GCX Loop 2 in --> out from GCX Loop 1
GCX Loop 2 send --> PreAmp 2 input (M4 input)
GCX Loop 2 return --> PreAmp 2 series output (M4 output)
GCX Loop 2 out --> either efx processor input or road king series efx loop return.

get the ground control to control both the M4 and GCX. since the loops in the gcx are true bypass, when you want the m4 turn on loop 2, turn off loop 1, and select the module you want. if you want the rk, turn on loop 1 in the patch and turn off loop 2, and select the road king channel.

Thanks a ton Eric. I really appreciate it. I just sold my Carvin Legacy so I may end up getting a separate power amp for the M4 but I may wait to hear how the M4 sounds through the RKII power section.

Thanks.

The Road King II has 2 Series Loops so couldn't I do this?

guitar -> GCX Guitar In (front panel)
GCX Feed Thru (rear panel) -> Road King II Preamp Input

RK II Loop 1 Send -> GCX Loop 1 In
GCX Loop 1 Out -> RK II Loop 1 Return
GCX Loop 1 Send -> M4 In
M4 Out -> GCX Loop 1 Return

RK II Loop 2 Send -> GCX Loop 2 In
GCX Loop 2 Out -> RK II Loop 2 Return
GCX Loop 2 Send -> G-Major In (mono)
G-Major Out (mono) -> GCX Loop 2 Return

This way, the RKII is always on. Loop 1 gives me the M4 and bypasses the RKII's preamp. Having Loop 2 on gives me the G-Major's Effects on both the M4 or RKII preamp. Correct?
