Jeff:

Is there a way you guys could enhance the Midi config of the M4 to add a CC message to switch between channel A and B of the current module?? It would be nice for those of us that use the Ground Control Pro, and want to switch in between gain settings on the M4 of a particular module, and assign one of the buttons to do this. Its the only thing I can complain about the M4.

Purty please ;). Or is that something that can be done today that is undocumented.

It's in the manual already does that! Fool

Jeff:

Let me be a little more descriptive here, because I think we are thinking of 2 different things.

In the manual you can set it to get CC changes, to hard code w/ your controller if I send CC#63 for example it switches to Channel 4B. What I am asking is to use it a bit differently.

Lets say CC#65, if its on, you are on channel B of the current module. If you turn CC#65 off, then it switches to Channel A of your current module. I currently use program change mode to switch the channels, but I was wanting a deeper level of ability, to say, if I sent program 5 to the M4 which puts it in Channel 3A. But instead of me having to switch patches on the rest of my gear and send another program change, is there a CC# I can send to the M4 to have it figure out what module i am on (1,2,3, or 4), and change it to the differing channel in that module.

If that already exists, I do not see it in the manual, and please do enlighten me oh tone god! :D

Thanks,
Eric

The pre amp is dumb, the CC #'s are fixed and thats it.

Ok, that's what I thought. Any possibility of adding my idea in? It would be a very useful feature for us rack guys :).

Well music seems to work in 30 year cycles so it'll be in vogue again soon. I used to feel the same way, but I got sick of the mess on the floor and all the tap dancing. I just ordered my M4 today! Jeff was seriously a good guy. Took his time with me and answered all my questions. I think I may also be sold on attending the amp seminar next year. I was going to get a Gretsch 6120 but now I think I'll wait.

It was a joke. In all seriousness I have nothing against racks (of any kind ;) ).

Im just too lazy to carry tons of shit to a gig. I find that with great guitar / amp tone, I dont need lots of effects. But then again, I dont play progressive swedish power metal. For a straight up hard rock guy, I dont need crazy effects. I can see how it is needed for some though.

Oh it's cool. My friends gave me a bunch of crap for making the jump to a rack system. I used to go straight guitar to my Rivera K-100 back im my stoner metal days. I'm sure they'll be jealous when they hear this thing.

talk about digging up a thread, but you can do this with an axess electronics fx1 foot controller.

Eric just needs to RTFM!

Hey I did!!! It just can't be done w/ the MIDI Pedalboard I have!! :P~

And I don't have enough room on my pedalboard for one of those :(.

Speaking of M4 midi enhancements, I wonder if it would be possible to mod the M4 to include the loop switching from the new E2. :) Is there enough free space to fit the additional jacks and board? and would the mod cost much more than just buying and axess switcher? Jeff can it be done? If so, thats the last time I'll pass up an M4 for $350

I asked about this a while back. It was indicated to me that there are no intentions to have loops nor to offer a mod to add them. If I remember correctly the reason given was that having the loops in there affected the tone of the preamp. The old single channel M4's had both loops. Believe me I mulled this over big time b4 placing my order in Feb. I have a bunch of processors and might be picking up the Valverb in the classifieds. I'll probably run a W/D setup to start. I may pick up a GCX looper or Soundculpture Switchblade down the road. I wish you could select each channel via CC messages though. It would make total sense with the 4 bank method on my GC Pro.
