Hey Guys!

Sorry in advance for my probably extremly noobish questions, but i'm sure you can help me out easily. So here's the story:

I'm looking for a (Rack Pre-) Amp for several months now and since i don't have tons of money i want to make sure that i get the tone i want to have with the first shot. So today i came across the Egnater M4 and it looks very interesting and promising for my use. I looked a bit around here and on the official Website but i still have some questions, here you go:

1. Is there a Version of the M4 that works with our European 230V-Standard? (I'm located in Germany by the way)
2. Since there are only Dealers located in northern America: Is it possible to ship an M4 to Europe?
3. It should be no problem to run the M4 with 2 Modules and upgrade later on, righty?
4. Call me blind, but i can't find any prize on the official website. What does a blank M4 cost actually?
5. last but not least: Which, let's say two, Modules would you suggest for me? I play in a progressive Metal Band. Think of something like Camel, Porcupine Tree and Opeth. I need creamy and singing Clean Tones, raw and organic Rhythm-Distorsion and some sweet leads at times. Maybe check out the song on our MySpace https://www.myspace.com/effloresceonline to get the idea. I love the tone you hear there. The Studio guy where we recorded owns a Diezel Herbert and thats what you hear there. Great Amp but too expensive for my honestly...

I think that's it so far. Feel free to enlighten me with your wisdom!

As for modules, it sounds like you might want to try either the Bman or a Deluxe for cleans, and an EG5 for gain. The EG5 has gain for days, and is incredibly tight.

Yeah, thanks so far guys! According to some clips i've heard the EG5 sounds cool to me, yep.

Anyone else wanna help me out with my questions? :)

It's the same version. I've recently moved from the US to London, UK. To convert my M4 to European voltage, I simply needed to adjust the fuse holder next to the power cable input so that the arrow pointed to '230V' and replaced the fuse with a 1A fuse. It's well labelled, so its easy to figure out what needs to be done when you are looking at the unit.

I'm sure there's no problem with that, but you'll have to deal with import taxes. Personally, I stuck my M4 in my carry on luggage on the way back from a business trip to avoid that.

yes, not a problem.

ah, great! Thanks jimr! The Voltage-thingy sounds cool! Very clever solution... so i'll look out if i get my hands on an M4. Seems to be a pretty cool piece of gear.

I'm London /UK based myself and I ordered my M4s last year and haven't looked back
The power switch with changing the fuse is all straight forward once you get to grips with it
No problem with running just two modules - the unit runs through it's logic when it fires up and checks whats in the slots
My problem is choosing which 4 modules to have in today

I bought mine from Indoor Storm and they were great , but any of the listed dealers should help

The duty & taxes do suck but we dont have any choice really
Blank M4 is about $800 and each module is about $400
Plus shipping , plus duty and tax etc

Hey Jimr - welcome to town!

how much duty & taxes did you pay approximately?

You have to pay 22,5 % on the price and on shipping cost (Custom fees are 3,5% and taxes - MwSt - are 19%!
