VHT Valvulator buffer/power supply. This thing affects the tone in a cool way.
Ernie Ball VP Jr 25Kohms - The Lo-z nature of this is the trick after the buffer. awesome results
some cheap Arion MIJ tuner velcroed to board.
Boss OD-2 - I don't love it, but I still can't find any OD's/Distortions I really like.
Guyatone MC3 micro chorus - underrated, awesome.

This is already out of date. I've built a rack drawer and a Carvin DCM150. This is going to be a WDW rig. I've run the power and MIDI but have to solder my audio cables. I built the rack from framing lumber.

Jesus, is that water main on the bottom right in the second pic? Thats the biggest cable ive ever seen in a guitar rig.

lol, no, not a water main. That's a Hubbell twist lock. That panel was originally for one of my amplifier racks, but I switched to something else. Having that connector on there allows me to use all the same power cabling that we use to hook up the system.

And thank you Szar, you're looking at years of planning, months of work, hours of frustration, and unfortunately, a shitload of money.

Klark, tell me about that delay mix w custom tap tempo switch pedal... who did that? Very clever.
That's a Boss FV-300L expression pedal that I had laying for years and never used. I was thinking about ordering the newer version but my old was pretty much new. After figuring out that I would not have enough Instant Access(IA) switches for tap temp & mute, I need to add a couple more.. somewhere. Putting the mute on the top board was natural since I only hit it when totally necessary. But a tap tempo way up there was out of the question. While trying to decide where to put an external tap-tempo box, I was literally holding the expression pedal. I removed the bottom screws and noticed there was plenty of room for a Carlingswitch brand switch. No other brand would fit. A little grinding, some soldering, some black paint, and the rest is history. BTW, the expression controls two things actually, delay mix percentage(how loud the delay is) and feedback(how many repeats).

The 1128's implementation is a whole other story. Being a FOH & monitor engineer, I've grown accustomed to being able to pull or boost a certain frequency, frequencies you learn over time doing sound. When I first starting putting a rig together, I would say things like 'I wish I could just notch a little at 500hz' or '2.5 is killing me!' One day I screwed an old Peavey EQ in my rack and after about 3 minutes of tweaking, I was thinking this is a must have and why it's not more popular is beyond me. With the next rig I built, I used a programmable digital EQ. The programability was awesome, but the fact that it was digital ruined the tone. There's analog EQs, digital EQs, digitally controlled analog EQs, and digitally controlled digital EQs. The only one I have ever found that's truly an analog EQ with digital control is the TC 1128, and it's awesome. Zero tone wreckage, total control, total programability.

Very cool thread, and I don't even own a rack!

Racks, even more so than pedal boards, seem like a sneak-peek inside one's brain, to see how they approach creative-problem-solving scenarios. There's a LOT that has to work perfectly in synch in a rack. I'm amazed at what some of you guys have done.

And to think, for me, putting together a pedalboard is a full day's worth of work... these racks are insane.

And Klark - LOVING that gold-flake LP. What the heck IS that????

I thought it was ugly when I first looked at it, but then I played it. I bought it about 10 minutes after that. It's actually not a real Les Paul. The story I got on it is it's built my some master luthier guy in Japan. I guess he has a pile of vintage mahogany and maple, and has been copying the early 60's Les Pauls for many years. And from I've been told, getting in quite a bit of legal trouble from time to time. Anyway, it didn't matter to me that it was a copy because when I played it, it was the best sounding and playing Les Paul that I had played up the that point. I removed the the front pickup to see if it was a long neck tenon and sure enough it is. My buddies are amazed at how long this thing sustains - I mean it's kind of a joke when we're jamming because I can hit a note CLEAN, and it just hangs there until someone yells at me to stop.

Fast forward to now.. My buddies brother Jimmy, who was a guitar player, just recently died and the family gave me his '78 Les Paul Deluxe. the black one you see. So for me, I feel weird even picking up the green sparkle one nowadays.. I always feel like Jimmy is watching me. I have no reason to keep the green sparkle, so it's up for sale.
