I just picked up an M4 (T/D, VX, SL, SL2X). It's absolutely amazing. I intend to get a dedicated power amp at some point, but for now I'm plugging into the effects return on my Rebel 20. It sounds great. The tube mix and variable wattage on the rebel are nice features to pair up with the M4.
However there is something that is not behaving as I would have expected. I assume the master volume on the Rebel comes after the effects loop, but when I go m4 -> rebel 20 effects return, the master on the rebel 20 doesn't have any effect. Which means I'm left controlling my overall volume with the M4 master. Why is that? Is the power amp on the rebel operating at full volume in this scenario? And is there downside to this that I should be aware of?
