Yay or nay?
Their friends of mine, I really like them. But I wouldn't want to spent that much on an amp.

No shit? I was too busy being half drunk and waiting for the Doug Aldridge Entourage to get a move on!

sounds like a fender + a tube screamer to me

i was thinking that too. I was also thinking, "This amp isnt doing anything my Superbass cant do..."

I didnt realize they were $5,000 amps though. Good God.

They're not real high gain amps.

The first 2 clips here are pretty representative of what they do:

http://mpamp.com/tone.htm

The player is the guy who owns the real Wreck and real 59 LP. He's had a Guitar Player soundpage (remember those back in the 80s?? - I'm old). Session guy in Nashville...

unless that amp is a transfomer robot and can turn into a car to drive me around ... There is a snowballs chance in hell that I would lay out 5g's on an amp. Besides, those tones can be had very easily IMHO.

That was the low gain input only, on the video.

They're not channel switchers, so they'd be tough to use onstage.

I bought a Herbert new, because I couldn't stand the GAS, but that's the most I've ever spent on a new amp .... I get the willie's when i spend that much, most of the tones I use can be had for $1500 to $2500.

I played it a couple of times, great amp, very versatile and does a lot of killer tones but it's unuseable outside of a studio because you have to fully tweak it again for different tones and can't even switch between clean and mean without having to change the EQ etc.

was checking into these a few weeks ago..then i saw the price tag

I'm not at all impressed by the clips I hear and having to tweak the amp for each tone is old school. You should have a ton of features on an amp in that price range. 5 grand? That's just silly...right up there with the John Mayer signature Two- Rock for 8 grand. Who buys this stuff?

There's one in a local store, it looked interesting but the price tag made me afraid to touch it
