A friend sent me this a little while ago... I had honestly never heard of this guy before but apparently he uses NOS vintage blah blah and it sounds good etc etc... 9k for an amp no thanks. Just a quick search showed a pic of a gooped amped. Like how do you know what parts were used with a ton of shit covering it up.

I think some guys are pretty up front with the technical side of things and some are pushing the " magic caps, transformers built from steel from the titanic, the chassis directly affects the tone... now pay me 9k for this clone".

Aluminum is lighter than steel but steel from the titanic should create a bit of rusty tone no?
 
I don’t even know what is being spoken of, but that dude can rot in the burning pits of almighty hell!!
 
I have no knowledge of this guy or his $9k builds with the "musical caps"....but......
In reference to the screenshot you posted, there actually is some merit to what he is saying....
Steel and aluminum have vastly different electrical properties, and most steel chassis have a zinc plating on them, so that adds to the metallurgical disparities.
Therefore, if using the chassis of the amp as a ground plane, there are going to be measurable differences between a steel chassis amp and an aluminum chassis amp.
Will you be able to hear the difference....

I believe that Ken Fischer talks about chassis material in the Trainwreck pages, but I can't remember the specifics...
Anyway, this guy may be mostly full of shit ( or not ) but IN THIS PARTICULAR CASE, he may actually be onto something.

Calll me crazy, but chrome chassis Mesa Rectos sound better than painted chassis. 🤷
 
I don't think he's crazy regarding the chassis metal

But I've played one of his dumble clones and it was fine, similar to the two rocks and amplified nation clones I've played
 
Since I am positive that I will never do this comparison myself I'll take his word for it and move along
