Ive owned this amp for maybe 2 years? Maybe less, anyhow....Ive searched high and low for any info on who did the mod on this amp and I cant find anything on the net. RSS Electronics? Anyone? Le Shiek? Anyhow, here's the rundown, 2 channels Rhythm and lead, switchable with any standard footswitch, 4 12AX7's, 4 6550's when I got it, switched and biased to run EL34'S.
73 Superlead pcb amp, fan cut in side of box, with AC plug added to the chassis, reverb tank hookups are wired and ready to go, but the guy took the tank out before shipping the amp for some reason? Looks to me like the original transformers. There is a pullout pot on the Lead Volume pot to switch channels if you dont want to bother with a switch. Looks like most of the original mustard caps are still on the board. The separate board on the end is hooked to the first pre-amp tube, and im assuming is the extra channel? Effects loop, on/off switch for fan,Polarity switch, it never ends with this thing!
Anyhow, im hoping one of the modders on here knows something about this thing, or anyone frankly....its a mystery to me, and Im just interested in its past. This isn't some bullshit post to try and garner interest in an amp im gonna put up for sale in the near future......I dont plan on selling......ever, its that good. And before anyone starts,,,,,yeah, clips to follow   Steve

Didn't this amp have a fender tweed type of recover?

RSS would be the obvious choice. who, what, or where they're from would cool to know!

Martin Golub adds the little boards inside like that, but can't tell if he had anything to do with that?

Yeah....you know, with a name like RSS Electronics.....I figured somebody who knew somebody who knew somebody would recognize this thing. Maybe someday someone will pipe in who knows the origins of this mutt. Would be cool to know. Its just my curiousity at this point. Steve

Did you try posting it at the Metro Amp forum? They might know. :)

Yeah....I did try that and no luck their either. It will remain a mystery for now I guess.....no big deal....I like the way it sounds, so its staying in the stable for now. Thanks for the suggestion though....Steve

That clip sounds great! I saw that for sale years ago and was always curious, now I wish I had grabbed it. You would think there would be something out there on a company who took the time to silk screen their logo on a mod... They must have been small and existed pre-internet and are now long gone.

there were so many in the eighties. some really good, most were junk. I like that one pic where someone put a DOD 250 inside the amp.

Thanks for the compliment on the tone.....I was very nervous when I bought this thing since I couldnt dig up any info via the internet. But....im with you on the screened face plate. Thats a lot of trouble to go through for a small company it seems to me. I keep thinkin someone is gonna pipe in one day who worked for this place, or knew somebody who worked for them. Anyhow...Ive bought a lot of amps without hearing them first, and some have been huge mistakes.......but this one is a keeper.
