very solid, warm sounding cab.. i love mine. The greenbacks sound killer in them too.

Love mine for recording, my go to cab...not so much for live use.

I love mine - I haven't had a lot of different cabs, but I've never really felt the need since it seems this one sounds really good.

I do! They are great for everything but heavier stuff... I like the greenbacks...

I don't have a BX, but I do have a 425A.
You ever try one of those?

love mine, I use it with a mojave peacemaker

put in g12H-30 's w/ the greenbacks in an x pattern

g12H's will get you more bottom end/ harder rock

green backs sound classic...

not for modern metal

Meh, I've had great results running a GB loaded Marshall along with a 1960A loaded w/ GT75/V30 in an X pattern for modern metal.
GB cab by itself is not as good, but running parallel with a more modern sounding cab is awesome.

Agree. Love mixing my GB 4x12 with my Gt75 4x12. Really fills stuff out live. It's fun when I have a chance to run 2 cabs. But live I just stick with 75's. Again, the GB's...love 'em in the studio.

It's all about the Modefour cabs. ;)

But I'd love to try out my rig through a Greenback loaded cab.

So not great for hard rock and metal? My buddy has a 1970 Marshall with Greenbacks and they play covers from Beatles to Metallica and it sounds tight and thick.

What about mixing the GBs with V30s? I am in the market for a 412 and was curious if worth it to buy the 1960bx if I found one used and mint for the same price as a used 1960b! I could always replace the speakers, sell the Greenbacks, maybe install some Lynchbacks!

I just wonder about the added weight with the separate speaker compartments and the what this does to the tone.

Thanks!

I remember a clip greg posted with his 5153 through a greenback cab doing modern metal, and it sounded great.

In my experience, Greenbacks can do metal but not just that loud. They sound great at lower volumes but as you turn up they start to break up and change tonally and you have to tweak your amp to compensate.

Had a 1960BX cab that was so bright it was unuseable. UK made GB loaded, too. I bought it to use with my 50 watt NMV Marshall in a alt. country thing I was doing using a Tele and Les Pauls. Sounded bad for that so then I tried to use it for my modern metal band and it was just as bad. Not sure what was up with that thing.

Maybe I will skip the Marshall cab and order a Splawn 412 which was my original plan. I just wish Scott Splawn made his straight 412 with a slanted front baffle like Bogner and Marshall. :(

I've had a 1960ax for years that I really like. It is a little thicker in the mids than H30s or 75s, which works great for many applications.

Hated it, not good for heavy stuff at all. Many people advised me against getting it for that reason and I didn't listen but they were right. I still have the cab but loaded it with CL-80s/G12-80 X pattern and that thing can handle anything I throw at it. Not shrill or ice picky, very powerful.

I love mine for everything but modern metal...breaks up to much and doesn't handle the bass as well, but that's why I also have a Mesa 412 with V30s! lol
