Is it any good?

I've always liked the looks of these, but I wonder if they're any good. I've got a standard 1960A that has gone through many speaker changes, and it sounds good, but if you take a peek inside, it looks like it's not very well put together.

Is the 1960TV any better? What is it like tonally? How would it compare to a 1960AX or 1960AC or other Greenback-loaded cab? How about compared to a Mesa OS?

I ran 2 of them for several years, they were great sounding cabs. Ive had greenbacks in multiple cabs over the years and those would seem like the bottom end would be enhanced some due to the size difference (it was), but the mids for whatever reason seemed better too. I don't know why. I wish I still had them for recording, I never should have let go of them. They are def better assembled than almost everything else in the lineup
I could not pay what they want for them new now, and I have a bunch of 412's in the studio so I likely won't risk a divorce to land one at the moment
The differences are there but they are not night and day different from the better old 412's that Marshall made. Its not as much of a difference as changing the speakers themselves.
I will say that although they look killer, not having corner protection became an issue when we were gigging all the time. They got pretty beat up.
They look great beat up though :D

They do sound bigger than an AX or BX cab; extended lows. If you get one from the 90s you’ll have the vaunted 6402 cones.

Mother of all marshall cabs. Early 80`s 4x12 bass cabinet with greenbacks. 14 inches deep.

It's the one cab I regret selling. Here you go.

Personally I think Marshall cab construction is lower quality than some others, but it's part of the sound.

Couldn't agree with the construction bit more. The floating baffle and kind of weak construction make the cab seem a little bit more alive, breathable, etc. Not always what I'm going for, but it works great with certain amps and certain tones.

Greenbacks probably aren't the best choice with a Recto. Here it is with a Mark. Better yet with a Marshall.

Also, I found that the GBs were one of those things that when you crank it in person have a special feel that you don't really pick up recording. Moral of the story is there are a few pieces of gear that after selling I regretted. The TV cab was one. The 60 watt C+ was another. The Tremoverb was as well, only for the clean tones.
