Marshall AVT150H? Is it as good as the classic 8100?

I found one of these for sale cheap near-ish. I'm a big fan of Death and Meshuggah. I used to have a Marshall Mode Four in the past which wasn't as bad as people make them out to be, but wasn't fantastic either. Big problem with it is it was too bassy and loose. I wonder if these are any better. Does it have the tight/aggressive Classic Valvestate tone as well or is it more Nu Metal-oriented like the Mode Four? Is it worth the $200-250-ish the seller is asking? Or am I throwing my money away?

i cant speak about the avt but there is this 8100 clone pedal if you want that vibe

That does look cool, but if the AVT still hast the VS vibe, I think that would make it a better deal.

They aren't like the 8100, especially not for extreme metal. I would say they are more like a SS DSL (and don't do it well). I never vibed with the amps. I will also add that the onboard FX are horrendous.

Yeah, probably not going to be using the effects. And a solid state DSL doesn't sound that bad, but if it doesn't do it well, it's probably going to be a waste of time and money, even if it's cheap. Thanks.

I think I’ve read the MG is closer to the 8100 which I’m sure you can find probably cheaper than $200

I didn’t realize the 8100 valve states were classic, though I do like mine a good deal. Mostly using mine for the power amp these days. I also don’t see the 8100s going for that much.

I have played an avt275 and it’s a good bit different than the 8100 and I actually prefer the 8100, particularly for higher gain, the avt would just disappear.
