I've been on the hunt for a "quality" Marshall cab (1960 A. AX. B. BX, TV. etc etc.) and I've noticed when pics are posted of the insides, I see what looks like particle board. I've done some searches on the web to confirm this and answers are not consistent. Are Marshall cabs made with a wood baffle and the rest particle board? I thought only the back baffle/panels were made of that. I've even read a thread that the sides are indeed plywood but have black paint overspray on them that make it look like its particle board. See my pics for example. This is what most of the for sale ads look like on all the Marshall cabs for sale I've been looking at. Looks like particle board to me.

on the 1960ax bx and the other standard 1960 cabs only the back is MDF

The back is MDF...the rest is birch plywood...not the best but still birch...
Jcm800 cabs were all Mdf...

The JCM800 and 900 4x12 cabs are birch ply except for a chipboard back. That continued through the revamped 1960 series (which started around 1990?) until recently, when now even the backs are ply.

Some of the 900 series 2x12s (the 1936) are MDF, but the new 1936 is all ply, including the back.

I had a 1936vintage that was all ply I believe. If anything the back panel might have been something else.

TBH, it def looks like ply from the handle cut but who says you can't make ply with layers of chipboard? It really looks like chipboard on the face.
