Marshall JCM 800 2204 vs. Soldano Hot Rod 50 Plus?

I had a 2204 and a HR50 at one point. I didn't think they were all that similar. The 2204 would give me the Marshall crunch and the Soldano was a high-gain amp. Sound obvious, but it's true! :D
 
Both are killer amps.......but totally different animals side by side.

If you like your 2204 boosted and cranked up, then you would like the HR50 dialed in at fairly moderate gain levels with some good volume.

That's the best way to compare them. You can still get a Marshall based sound out of a HR50 if that's what you're asking.
