Whats everyone thoughts on this?

Value?

I might be trading my ENGL Fireball 100 for it...is it worth it?

I do like Marshalls, high gain Marshalls, can this do that?

I have never played the combo but I have a 2555 Jubilee stack which I love. They are great for anything up to hard rock tones but if you are looking for metal/modern tones the Engl will be better.

One thing to keep in mind about the silver jubilee combos is that I am pretty sure they don't have a choke, so they do sound different than the heads. This is what I remember reading anyway.

I used to own and Engl Fireball 60 and currently own a marshall 2553 silver jubilee, here is how I would stack them up:

Clean: Neither is great. Not much of a clean on the jubilee with humbuckers, but pretty nice clean with single coil pickups. The Fireball sounded very clean, but flat and compressed, almost SS sounding.
Mid gain: I don't really like the rhythm clip that much, but turning down the distortion does give a pretty good midgain sound. The fireball didn't really have a midgain.
Distortion: The Jubilee has a very classic 80's hard rock distortion. With an EQ in the loop it can get into more modern territory, but never really nails it. It also can be buzzy if the amp is played too low. This was the sound I bought the jubilee to get. The fireball has a great distortion too, much more metal. I couldn't really get that 80's hard rock sound from it, but it excelled at all out metal.

Hope that helps a bit.

Having owned both a Fireball and a Jubilee, I would do that trade

The 2554 is the only one of the jubilee series without a choke. The 2558 combo (2x12) is basically the same short chassis as the 2553 head.

Perfect! I was thinking the road case must add about $2000 to the price.

Thanks for the clarification.

Can a choke be added to the 2554 combo? Not sure if there is space.....

Yes, there is room.

I owned a Canadian version silver jubilee 2554 many yrs ago and it didn't blow me away, It had some great tones that could be dialed in but it wasn't what it was hyped up to be. I think the tiny 1x12 combo make it sound much smaller, I believe it was smaller then most other Marshall 1x12 combos even. I later tried the 100 watt slash head through an old Marshall cab and the tone was much better abpnd it sounded huge. I sold the 2554 for around $900 I believe give or take a few.

Wow necrobump. I played a 2554 combo through a V30 cab and it chased EVERYTHING away until I got an SLO. I had small box and full size 50 watt Jub heads, and to me the little combo sounded BETTER than the versions with a choke. Of course I boosted them with an eq pedal and and OCD to get heavy, but it was a great tone to me. HUGE through a 4x12 with V30s or G12 65s. YMMV.....

I have Racerxrated's amp and it is a little monster. Haven't played it in a band setting but for home use its my go to amp. If my band gets its shit together I'll give it a go and see how it hangs at band volumes. Right now, for home use, I'm playing it more than my Splawn, SLO and Friedman BE. Its the new kid on the block in my little amp arsenal, so that is also a legitimate reason why its seeing all the play time, but make no mistake about it this amp has just the right tone/frequency I'm looking for. This amp is fun as hell to play and its incredibly dynamic.
