MURDERATOR
I see these for sale all the time. What is the deal with them? Does it sound like a plexi or 800? Something else? Will it satisfy my Marshall itch? Just curious…never really seen them discussed on here….

I believe @rsm has one.
Have read there are some good mods.

No, it wont - I tried one out at a guitar center and it was pretty bad

Apparently Headfirst has a decent mod for it though

Haven't personally tried one. Was that with the origin cab, though? Don't those have like seventy 80s or something like that? Just wondering if it's at all like the iconic situation where apparently they're good if they had good speakers.

I have two. :D I have the Origin50C combo, and Origin50H head. They're like mini JTM-45, JTM-45/100, SLP. Need the master at 8+, and the power scaling is amazingly good, it sounds the same at low, medium and high settings.

If you want to mod it, just get a DSL40, that's what I did. DSL40CR.

edit: I recall Headfirst did a comparison of the Orign20H and the SV20, and many things were similar IIRC.

Yeah I figured they were trash.

Nope. I dig mine. Get one used, move it on if you don't like it. Master has to be 8+; center the Tilt knob, dial in your sound, and adjust the Tilt to taste.

It's not JCM 800, more earlier (origin) Marshalls. JTM, JTM 45/100, early SLP. I never tried the 20, but I have the 50 head and combo, and even with my 1959x, JVM410H, JCM-900 SL-X, DSL40CR, Helios Eclipse and Engl Artist Edition, I have no plans to sell either Origin50.

I've used GEQ / PEQ pedals to push the Origin, but prefer without; with the right OD you could probably get to JCM-800 gain, never tried...the JCM-800 isn't on my list of Marshalls I want...unlike most Marshall players.
