Currently have an ART-SLA2 as my power amp for my wet/dry rig. Have the option to pick up a Matrix gt800fx.. wondering how much better is the matrix compared to the art-sla2?? I know Axe Fx users prefer the matrix but will I see much improvement in tone in a wet/dry setup?? Im all for whatever is a better piece of gear... I just dont want to spend money on something I don't really need  Let me know your thoughts as soon as you can.. I may buy tonite. Cheers and Happy Holidays

ps.. Line 6 HD500 vs Yamaha Thr10?? Used specifically for home practicing, noodling, etc. I like higher gain tones.. ie: Petrucci, Aldrich, Norum, Timmons, Andy James, etc. Thanks

in that setup have my doubts you'd see a huge improvement by switching between those two

you could i guess try a stereo/2 channel 15 band eq to be able to tweak more, would probably make more of an impact

Curious to see responses :)

I have an SLA-2 also, have thought about one day moving up to the GT1000FX because I keep hearing how it is the VHT killer. I just don't know how much of a difference there would be at "common sense" volumes....

I have both the matrix and the art amplifiers and have used them with axe-fx, various preamps and my current triaxis set-up. I do not run a W/D/W setup but I would also say no contest. The art amp is very sterile sounding compared to the matrix. The matrix sounds much more like a guitar amp and will likely sound better with your setup. The only way to really tell would be to try it.
