That's a Triple Giant, not a Fish.

does the hafler have the same channels as the bogner triple giant?

Yeah, except the clean channel is called country on the Bogner.

People have modded the Hafler version to Bogner specs for not too much cash but I doubt they sound the same even (still layout and component quality differences).

Don't buy a Halfer thinking you will get the tone. It sucks.

Original Bogner triple giant had the same circuit as the original fish with Cantrell mod. For the gain channel or the "important" channel if you ask me.

It's a circuit based on the Engl straight 100 or actually you can just buy one of those if your looking for that tone cheap.

I have both. They are not the same, hardly in the slightest.Ran both at outdoor festival into separate cabs.Used 2nd ch on Hafler and Brown on fish- together they sounded really cool. But the fish is a superior unit.

I don't know if your fish has the "whale mod" or Cantrell mod but I just want to clarify so anyone reading this thread knows what I am talking about...

The Cantrell/Spitz/Whale mod you see on the Fish (not all fishes had these) is the same or very similar to the original non Halfner triple giant preamp gain channel. This is the Megadeth gain circuit or tone you're looking for.

Yeah, the Hafler isn´t that good. The Brown channel was OK, but it´s not something I would dedicate 2U to and there are plenty of better choices in that price range or slightly above. Cleans were flat and the lead channel was screechy.

Is the brown channel on the bogner fish detailed and dark like a lot of people say Bogner stuff is or does it cut through?

^^^ Brown ch on my fish is the cats meow.(keep in mind I run the vht 2150 and classic with these-and darn near anything slays thru those amps).Thick, chewy, tight, articulate if set that way,etc..I cant speak for the other versions of modded fish's and triple giants out there,as mine are bone stock..but I love em,(the fish more though). And our soundman loves mixing the hafler with the fish, but as said earlier, I too think the brown on the giant is probably where its at as far as the best you can get out of the giant, channel wise.I think the fish is better all around tho..I have a great guitar player shootout article somewhere between the fish, hafler, soldano x88r,and egnator ie4..Its a good read.

Honestly I dont care for the regular brown channel on the Fish. I love the modded Shark channel on mine.

i have the stock reissue, the shark channel is unusable for me. it just sounds terrible.
i love the other three channels though.

Forgive the bump please. Finding discussion on this topic of the old Hafler TG, or old/new Fish, ain't too common. And here we have them both being used together live?! Holy fudge. I'm always happy to find stuff on them.
I have played both, but have only owned the Hafler. It's Clean is horrible but what can ya do... The Brown has an ACDC Marshall thing for humbuckers, but I push the treble and gain up. The Sharp I keep the gain low/treb half and get a good enough fake Fendery blues strat tone for single coils and all the clean from backing off guitar's volume knob. For metal I grab a humbucker guitar and turn the gain up a bit past halfway until it starts to react right.
For me I adjusted the EQ/volume between the Brown/Sharp so it works for me. Would love to have it modded but I have other amps n s#!+ I should sell.
That said, there's so much that can be done to 'doctor-up' more gain/EQ on ANYthing with even just 1 or 2 outboard rack units or your pedalboard toys. Don't get me wrong, I lust for a Fish, but the funds were never there. For now it does a great job of somehow magically fooling club-goers and my peers into thinking my tone is great as is.
Maybe I have tone fingers - ha.
